    New 100 series ???? (1998-2003)

Thanks all. My main question was proabably between 98/99 and 00+. I find that the 98/99s are much cheaper for the same mileage (more than a year might suggest) I noticed that there were many small changes between 00 and 01, but not much in 02. Then comes 03 with slightly more power...

    New 100 series ???? (1998-2003)

I saw the Slee newbie guide and it is great. Some things I understood and some I was unsure of the value of, so I guess I am still wondering as to how important some of the different features are based on real world use/experience? Thanks!

    New 100 series ???? (1998-2003)

Sadly, my 97FZJ with 89k miles and lockers, may have met an unfortunate end . While taking the family to Big Bear, we slid 80ft down an icy road (at about 10 mph) couldn't stop or turn - I tried gas and brakes - mostly brakes. Ended up busting through a small retaining wall and while clever...

    Battery Choices

B - I know this acid has to be cleaned - I mixed a solution of baking soda and water to neutralize the acid and applied liberally and then left baking soda in the bottom of the tray to stop new acid - I figured I would remove the tray when I swapped out the batter

    Battery Choices

What is the difference between Orbital models such as the XCD and say the DC which is actualy more expensive?? Is it Ok to use the Optima Blue (D34M) as a single battery (I ask because some of the stores around here have them and not the full size yellows they have only the 625cca model -...

    Battery Choices

Dan, the acid seems to be collecting around the battery retainer bar and there is evidence of it in the battery tray - I did not see anything that made me think it was cracked or leaking from the bottom. K

    Battery Choices

I have checked the voltage of the battery by itself and while charging (running) and the system seems to be pumping out juice but not excessively that I could tell. Also the current battery did go dead once while the 80 sat for 10 days perhaps due to the alarm and maybe not being fully charged...

    Battery Choices

OK so I know some have definite opinions against using dry cell batteries, but I am tired of my regular style one leaking acid (it is only a year old too!!) I also like the idea of having greater vibration resistance, lighter weight, more capacity, longer life, and I am hoping that a big...

    Heat Shield Rattling

I get a light rattle when in "D" with the brake applied at a stop, but when my foot comes off the brake it goes away - It sounds like a metal rattle but the brakes are fine so . . . hmm time to look at the heat shield.

Group buy: rear window weatherstrip gap. Get your fix before your metal rots away!

Well - I like the idea of adding a piece of stripping - but when I posted on this many months ago and found that almost everyone had a gap I just decided to seal mine up - as near the coast everything unsealed begins to rust. Mine were small so I used some Lexel (which is clear and nearly...

    Loose wheel bearing

Ok so the left side bearing was a bit loose. I did not find any play when it was tightened, so hopefully that was it. The grease was still good and things looked ok inside (no discoloration or obvious damage) so a tightening was all it got. Also new rear brake pads - there was only 2mm left...

    Loose wheel bearing

Here is an update - today was crazy. It seems not to be the knuckle arm studs and rather the bearing, which I won't be able to address until Friday. When I took in the truck for tires, the only good part of the day, (OT Bridgestone dueler A/T revo 285/75 - ride is comfortable, looks much...

    Loose wheel bearing

Rookie 2 - I am confused as to what is technically the knuckle arm stud? Is it above or below the knuckle , and am I just attempting to see if they can be tightened? Thanks

    Loose wheel bearing

E - I agree - but I have to take it to the tire shop anyway and if they weren't gonna charge me much that is exactly what I was going to ask them to do. Then later take a proper look at it - Toyota quotes $346 (ooouch!) to repack the inner and outer bearings. My concern was if driving it for a...
