Blown Head Gasket - Low Compression What to Do?
well I got the expected news today. appears the head gasket is blown. No compression from cylanders 2 & 3 . Compression on remaining cylanders was marginal as well, about 125-130. So I need to make some decisions. Do I simply just replace head...
Any help? Cylinders 2 & 3 are not firing. Was driving down the road today and she just lost power. Went to auto parts store and replaced the wires and plugs to these two cylinders but didnt work. Plenty of spark. Any thoughts. I'm going to pressure check tomorrow. I'm hoping its something...
I just went through the same decision. I have a 1971, fj40 with a column shift. I decided to go with the header. I went with the Tri-Y header from Marks Offroad. Very happy with the quality, I had to do some minor fabrication of the column shift linkage but it was easy and everything works...
Ok, I'll give that a try, the oil I noticed was coming from the my new oil lines which I have removed and will need to get new ones made. After I get a new oil line I'll check the adjustments on the carb. Hopefully this will fix the problem, because its running great just backfires on...
Ok, fellas mabey you can help me out. I just installed a header on my 1971 F engine everything went well, I also got the carb completly rebuilt. Upon start up the engine runs and idles great if you give a decent amount of gas or take it for a ride it makes a loud backfire sound out the carb...
Modified Column Shift Linkage
After speaking to Mark he was able to walk me through a pretty minor modification to the column shift linkage to allow the column shift to remain afetr installing the header. THis was a pretty simple modification which involved straightening the shift lever that...
I'll give Mark a call later today to figure out what I'm going to do. I purchased the Tri-Y header so it may work. I would like to keep the column shift it shifts great and I like the retro feel, plus I like the space on the Tranny cover.
I just got my header from Mark on saturday, very impressed. I havn't really got into yet but I was holding in the engine bay trying to get it aligned and it seemed that the linkage from my three on the tree was going to be an issue. Can anybody chime in on this for me. I'm hoping that I just...
mine looked the same. Take it to a radiator shop and get them to pressure test it. Wire brush it and paint it with rust preventive paint, top coat it and move on. I did line mine with an epoxy coating on the interior seemed to work well, you could do that to.
problem is its too late. I welded a nut on and broke the stud with just a little bit left. Plus the other side crack where the stud goes in so it a lost cause. Needs to be replaced. How hard of a job is this. I imaging just getting the old bolts out is the bulk of the work.
:mad::mad:
Well a simple old bolt has just caused me to ruin my exhaust manifold so now everything has to come out and a new (used) one will have to go in, I'm use to this kind of stuff by now. Nothing ever goes as planned. If anyone has one lying around I could sure use it. I have a 71' Fj-40, 1F...
I need the lower exhaust manifold for a 1971 fj40. I just broke the flange on mine trying to get the stud out, always the simple problems that create the biggest headaches. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Josh
