UPDATE ---
Dealership just called and their diagnosis is that the belts driving the H20 pump broke causing the radiator to build up pressure and explode. Freak accident. Change those belts....my wife did say the light that came on was under the battery gauge on the dash....alternator.
I...
Thanks for all the support. Yellowchaos, that is almost exactly what ours looks like, just split....i think the pressure on the explosion probably is what caused the belts to rip to shreads. We should get a diagnosis and estimate next week.

interesting the belts were loose, mine were shreaded....sounds like there might not be anything wrong with the engine.....
Got a frantic call from my wife last evening that "something is really really wrong with my car" she was driving up a hill and the check engine light came on and 30 seconds later KABOOM and white smoke billowing from under the hood. I picked her up the the '87 FJ60 and saw the radiator spilt...
shot in the dark here, but i had a similar problem with our 80, turned out to be bad starter contacts. search the 80's threads for starter and there is a good description on how to replace them yourself. good luck.
New Lift Pics
I have only driven on pavement, but the ride is drastically improved and I can only described it as "spongy". It absorbs the ruts in the road well, but the new tires like to pull me all over. Anyway, the only comparison I have is to BDS. I had the BDS on for a bit, but...
Dropped of the 60 this morning and saw the parts of the kit. The only other kit I have seen is the the BDS and this kit was much much nicer. There were more springs in the pack, the finishing was perfect, the grease fittings were there, shocks and bushings looked stout and yellow :) Anyway, I...
I will send pictures when finished and do a write up on how it handles, etc. I am also putting new to me tires and rims, 33X12.50X15 BFG Mud Terrains.
Stay tuned
Interesting thing about the lift is that BDS claims even if the driveshaft was modified by PO the raising of the truck should move the axle rearward. For what its worth, the drive shaft slip yoke has plenty of slip now about 2-3".

I just got off the phone with them again. According to their expert from anonther shop location, the axle appears to be forward about 1". At first glance it looks fairly centered in the wheel well maybe a bit forward. All the measurements match up -- pin to pin, pin to frame, frame...
Update - I Saw The Intsall
I forgot my camera:(
But, the rig looks good, rides high about 6'5" at the top but looks pretty good. There is no slip in the driveshaft, pretty much metal on metal. Everything else looked ok from my rookie eye. The springs are installed correctly, shackles...
Can someone tell me the stock driveline length for the rear of an '87 FJ60? The dealer is claiming it has been modified and needs to be shortened!!!! Can someone measure from yoke to yoke ASAP. Thanks this is a great resource.

UPDATE -
I got BDS and the shop on the line. The shop says there is 1/4" of clearance on driveshaft which is too close for comfort. BDS recommends that the shop try and compress the springs and see if the drive shaft bottoms out because the geometry is such that the axle should move...

Thanks for the advice, I asked them to check the simple stuff this morning and they assured me that had. The shackle thing is wierd, I don't know why a stock shackle would make a difference, and I am going to be unhappy if the kit is stiff as advertised by the dealer.
