Why not use a sm465 4 speed, they are easier to find and stronger. Either tranny you'll need a chevy bellhousing, clutch fork, throw out bearing and chevy tranny to toyota transfer case adapter, just make sure the replacement tranny is an 10 spline output shaft. BIGMOOSE
I run the same motor mounts, I shifted my radiator support to the driverside and made a new lower radiator brackets to use the stock Toyota fan. Be care because the fan blade is one inch from the lower radiator hose.

I'm installing a chevy v-8 with vortec heads(carbed)in a 1978 FJ40 and trying to decide, if the motor should be level or tilted towards the rear 3-5 degrees? Bigmoose
I was rebuilding my 1978 fj40 front axle and determined that my drivers side axle spindle threads were stripped. I believe that all fj40 with disc brake axles will fit; but what about a spindle from a fj60? I know where there's a fj60 axle complete and it may be nice to have the extra parts. MOOSE
Stock wheels are 3.50 inch backed spaced, so with an 1.5 spacer, acts like an 2 inch back spaced wheel. Will q78's and stock fj wheels hit much without spacers?
I found some 15x8, 2.5 backspaced (steel)wagon wheels at Summit racing, is this a good offset for the fj40. Everything else seems 3 3/4 to 5 inch? Any one have a manufacture name or wheel number? TX Bigmoose
