1987 Toyota pickup original brake cylinder and booster - like new
Located Dallas, TX
Wrenched about 10 years ago simply to have as a replacement if I ever needed it. It's in like new condition as you can see by the pictures. Clean, no rust. My truck has since been put out of commission and I...
Draining and flushing the radiator tonight. Got it drained, made the classic mess. Putting the drain plug back in but it never gets fully tight. Looking at the plug it looks like there should be some o ring or something on it but there isn't one. Not sure if it fell off in the draining process...
Good news is I filled the clutch master and bled the system. Now have pressure in the clutch and it's working great.
Bad news is upon inspection now that it's full of fluid, I have a leak in the slave cylinder. The majority of the fluid comes from the bottom of the rubber boot where it is...
Busy with work and has been a while since I've gotten to post.
This past weekend did some regular maintenance on my original 76 40. Changed the oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter. Also greased the front linkages etc with CAT moly grease and did the driveshaft zerks with Valvoline...
Lately my 87 2wd pickup has been starting up quite roughly. It will shake the entire engine bay and truck. At first I would let it run for a few and then as I drove it down the road it would eventually "catch" and drive normal. As time went on it starts more roughly, sputtering sounds from...
San Diego guys,
Introducing myself, my name is Matt, moved to CA just north of San Diego last January. Came out here to work in baseball. Left everything behind in Michigan to make it happen. Excited to maybe become a part of the San Diego Cruiser community when I am able to move it out here...
Hey guys I'm back at it again of course now that it's winter in Michigan. Perfect time to need maintenance.
Anyway, I'm doing a tune up trying to get my little 87 2wd truck ready to take a cross country ride to CA from Michigan. Changing the Power Steering and Alternator belts. Managed to...
Amateur mechanic here and recently decided I needed to replace the U-joints on my 87 2wd pickup. After further investigation I realized they were so bad and the driveshaft was so bad that I would more likely need to replace the driveshaft itself.
I got a driveshaft from a yota yard (out of...
I am about to take my odometer out and clean it up, re lubricate etc. I have read all the write ups about it and feel it shouldn't be a problem. My one question is will I be able to keep it set to the original mileage. Most anyone that I have read about doing this ends up rolling the mileage...
Several of you have helped me along the way but I am still quite amateurish.
My problem now is firstly that when I shift from Park into Reverse or into gear it makes quite a deliberate noise. Clunk into gear. I changed the transmission fluid not long ago. Seems like it always made some type...
My 87 2wd EFI automatic truck is not starting.
This only occurs when it is cold outside. I have narrowed it down to within a few degrees. If it is above 26 degrees outside then the truck fires right up on the first turn and drives like a dream. However if it's below 26 degrees then it won't...
Not long ago I replaced the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. It stopped the truck from shifting in and out of overdrive, got rid of the check engine light, and stopped it from stalling after several minutes of driving after it warmed up.
Now lately the truck randomly won't start. This only happens...
Well I've replaced the fuel lines, brake lines, fuel pump bracket, eng coolant temp sensor and the truck is running great. Thanks to all of you.
Now the only thing I notice is when I am going about 60 mph and accelerate trying to get up to 70 or so the truck makes quite a violent squealing...
{Brake!} light is now on. I had recently taken off the old rusty bed of the truck and built a simple wooden flat bed. To get rid of the old bed so it was no longer sitting in the back yard I strapped it to the wooden bed along with some other old metal pipes and took it to the scrap yard. By...
87 pickup 2wd, EFI, automatic
Truck occasionally kicks in and out of overdrive. Previous owner seems to remember a toyota mechanic telling him there was some senson in/on/or dealing with the transmission that would cause this. He uses the term "heat sensor". Is there such a sensor? This...
First of all thanks to those of you that posted in my other thread asking about the "Tube Sub Assembly" on my 87, 2wd, EFI, minitruck. All your advice was very helpful. I have since after lots of looking found a new fuel pump bracket at a junkyard in CO and he shipped it to my door for 50...
Wanted : 1984-1988 minitruck Fuel Pump Assembly. (2wd, EFI)
Looking for a Fuel Pump Assembly aka Tube Sub Assembly aka Fuel Pump Bracket. My truck is a 1987, EFI, 2wd truck. From my understanding as long as it's 2wd and EFI then anything from a 1984-1988 will work. Preferable would be an...
After posting the other day with several problems that i've been having the consensus from all you guys was, fix the gas leak first then go from there. So here we go
I set out to find the leak and it is coming from the top of the gas tank where all the hoses and wires connect. Pardon my lack...
as you can see by the title I am not a mechanic. I am learning as I go. I have an 87 pickup minitruck that is my daily driver. Lately been having some problems. I will do my best to describe the little quirks and problems with hopes that maybe some of you can lead me in the right direction...
Hey guys, apologize for the amateur question but I have just visited a few parts stores and talked on the phone with the parts guy at my local toyota shop and I would really like to know for sure what this is. At first I thought it to be a fuel filter. The first person at Napa suggested me a...
