Hey all,
I'm installing a new radio overhead just under the head liner tray and would like to route the power wires thru the windsheild frame. I heard this can be done, but I'm stumped on how to route the wire thru the frame. There's "a few" holes in the side dash area the PO used for this (I...
Hey 4runner folks,
Need to make a decision and thought I would poll the forum for any inputs... Wanting to do a lift on the ole lady's 2023 TRD Sport that's equipped with the X-REAS system. I've no experience with this system, but seems to be functional and working well. If I proceed with the...
Looks like your all correct! Those shims are in backwards. Feeling like a noob mistake, but we live and learn from our errors. Looking back, I see that I followed the shim direction as I found them on the rig. When I received this new FJ, it handled terrible and I could hardy keep it on the...
Hey all,
I"ve just completed the 4 inch lift on my '77 fj40 and thought I would post some finish product pictures. Only trouble I found was the M8 bolts on the stationary leaf spring perch were stripped. Most of them ended up OK with retapping and fresh bolts, but 3 had to be drill out and...
Hey all,
I'm about to start a 4 inch lift on the '77 FJ40. Going with Skyjacker/5100 Bilsteins. The rig currently has stock 2 3/4" pin to pin shackles, front and rear. As received, the crusier is definitely lower at the front end; rear is higher... I would say about 2 inches.
Does it...
mattressking, I'm with you, dude! I too prefer the clearance and I also want the future ability to increase tire diameter. I'm building this FJ to do Idaho to Montana from Washington. When we're done with that, it's on to Alaska. It needs to be bad ass! Also, yes, Imma gonna say this: I...
Hey all,
I just acquired a '77 FJ40 and it arrived with a serious case of the Death Wobble! I note that all the components on this rig are "dated". Air shocks from sometime in the '90s, all bushings from the beginning of time, wheel bearings = who knows! TREs and steering seem OK with no...
OK, OK, I get it! Yer all a bunch of really visual fellows! The white FJ was my first crusier. I ran it for around 25 years; rebuilt if a few times: front bumper to rear ball hitch. Drove this guy from Mexico to far North BC a couple of times. shown here on Vancouver Island, Canada. There...
Hey all, new to the forum and site. I ran a 1971 FJ for around 25 years back in the day and have just "re-upped" with a 1977 FJ purchase. It's pretty well restored, but has a few outstanding items to be repaired. Looking forward to using this platform! Cheers all!
