Yup I am running 33x12.5RTx17LT with a 3" lift....It looks close when I crank all the way over but I still have about 2 inches. I have made some sharp u turns and played a little off the pavement and haven't had any rubbing. I have a friend with a shop and was wondering if I still needed to do...
I am running 33's and I haven't had any rubbing issues yet. Is this more of an issue in terrian? I have played a little, but I have mostly been fishing since I picked up my FJ.
Love the FJ "."
The only 6 things that I don't like:
Paint Chips
Windshield Chips
Holy horrible fuel economy Batman! This V-6 is a mini V-8....
That other people keep buying them
That I keep wanting to buy more stuff for it
and the fact that I put my 1st ding in the door when a ladder...
If A-trac is just ABS kicking in to slow a free spining wheel so that power is going to the wheel with traction.
Could any system (Trac or VSC) other than a-trac cause ABS to fire when in 4L? Could engaing the a-trac switch just be causing Trac to kick in.
If no other systems can kick ABS...
That must be why it wasn't reacting the same as I had thought it would. I was spinning the wheels quickly and fish tailing. I was also wondering because it was only the back end firing...the front wheels must have just been gripping too well.
Vids like this made me think there was something...
OK I got my wheels spinning in some slick mud while in 4L and I heard the sound of ABS in the back end.
It was only after my back end kicked out and I couldn't seem to get the front to kick.
No grinding sounds just abs, is that what I am looking for?
With the added a-trac is it...
I am glad that all of you convinced my to hold off on trading my truck in. I really didn't want much of the stuff in the up packages...and I would rather take the 2-3k and add better stuff. I saved a couple hundred just by installing the hitch myself...these trucks are so easy to work with...
Yes, I have been trying without the locker...
If it is working for you it must work for me. I sure hope Toyota was lying....
I am fishing tomorrow. If I see some good testing grounds I may have to unhitch the trailer and see if I can get a-trac to fire.
Plugged the switch in this evening, light comes on, and stays on when I engage rear diff.
Same sluggish feeling when you try to turn with the rear diffs locked with the sound of one tire dragging.
Tried to get a little flex going on a few dirt moguls and on a steep dirt incline but...
The switch and a few other toys should be dropped off by a big brown truck and some guy in a brown outfit, that my dogs like to bark at, later today.
Hopefully it will work....the wires are there, and it looks like I can turn the light on.
Hopefully that means that A-trac works.....I would...
That quote was part of what concerned me. I have also read that some people without rear diff lock have jumped the wires and the a-trac light comes on. Are people actually finding that it works properly and as well as the factory a-trac.
Thanks for your help on this.
What does it sound like? Is there a sound when you hit the switch?
...I hope that it works on mine...My concern was that It might turn the light on (some people do that without a switch by jumping the wires) but that the ECU has been changed in later models so that this mod no longer...
I read somewhere that even people without rear diff lock can get the a-trac light to turn on. So I guess I am wondering if the switch just turns the light on or if it actually activates a-trac.
Have you tested yours?
Toyota's response was that I would have Trac but not a-trac which was...
I called the 800 number listed in the linked thread and asked about how I could get A-trac.
They looked up my vehicle by my name and vin and told me that it was not possible that I only had rear diff lock.
Looks like I'll be trading in my vehicle for another one.
I have been reading about installing a switch to get A-trac. Is this still working? Picked up a later model FJ with rear diff lock AT 4x4. VIN 61xxxx.
Thanks!
