What carb is on this Jungle 43?

Any ideas? The cruiser is a 74 fj43. Apologies for the potato photo

    Replacing clutch master/slave/line. Teflon tape?

Dumb question, but should I wrap the threads of the clutch line w/ Teflon tape?

Because old license plates are cheaper than sheet metal...

Temporary tailgate on my 74 FJ43. I recently removed the top and welded a metaltech cage together, complete with frame tie in pieces. Metaltech was amazing to deal with. Solid experience. For all you purists out there, I will eventually fabricate or source a proper tailgate solution but, given...

McMaster as source for barn door hinges?

Trying to install barn doors and, as I am very frugal, didn't know if there was a source aside from OEM or evilbay for barn door hinges? I do a ton of business with McMaster and was curious if they sell a similar hinge? Thanks

Metal Tech cage, what type of steel?

Curious as to the type of steel used in a metal Tech cage. Mine is enroute and, I want to make sure that I have the correct Tig filler before welding. I reached out and am waiting to hear back, but being the impatient person I am, figured I'd ask here. Those who Tig welded their metaltech cage...

1974 FJ43 knuckle rebuild, missing parts normal?

After tearing down my knuckles to rebuild, I noticed that there was no retainer (part number 31 in the diagram). I've read that these were included up to 73, but am getting conflicting messages. Can I install the spindle felt and gasket without this retainer? Thanks!

    Spindle bushing for 1974?

Peeling back layers on my knuckle rebuild. The original spindle bushing is missing a large chunk. I cannot seem to find one for a 1974. Any ideas who sells these? It is part 36 in the diagram.

Removed front drums. Everything is covered in grease...

Yeah. I have no idea if the PO did this, or if it is a seal gone bad. When I say "covered" I mean I removed at least a pound of grease from behind the brake drum. It was all over the inside of the drum, the wheel cylinders, shoes, etc. Like someone filled the drum to the brim and installed. The...

    Road trip mechanical preparation...

Hi all. I have a 1974 fj43 that I am considering taking on a road trip over new years. The trip consists of 300 miles with an elevation gain of ~4500 feet, most of which is done in the last 50 miles (from coastal Georgia to NC mountains). That said, what are some maintenance items I should...

    Your online, go-to vendor?

Needing a few parts. I've ordered from the various vendors, but for this next part of the fj43's life, it's time to replace all wheel bearings, rebuild the knuckles, overhaul (just kidding, I meant replace) every steering component and dive into the brakes- maybe, just maybe restore the entire...

Stupid question: How rare are fj43's in the states?

Curious as I've only seen a handful at auctions and in the classifieds. I've researched and, though my search skills are limited, cannot find a concrete answer. Any ideas?
