Below is a photo of what I believe to be the 'speed marker' and 'speed detector' as they appear on the firewall up near your clutch pedal. Can anyone tell me what they do and whether or not I need them? I'm installing a Centech wire harness and I'm not sure what wires if any are labeled for this...
I purchased a nice Centech wiring harness (FP-100-000) and had hired someone to put it in. They decided to splice way too much of it into the existing harness. At the time I rolled with it, but I'm left finishing the work and decided to yank out a lot more of the old. (I think they just didn't...
I wanted to weld the 9mm fittings that were there, but i don't have a welder. Believe it or not, it was actually easier to go to my friend's machine shop and tap them out to 10mmx1.5. Then I squared off the ends of a couple 10mm threaded bolts and even drilled out the ends in a conical shape to...
I'm using old 9mm. Got a some from other converting over to 10mm. Have a machinist friend helping me with making 9mm threaded plugs for the T-fittings. Need to plug one hole as I'm separating the front and rear. Wish I had made an adapter plate, but already drilled the holes. ugh
Here's what I bought. Can anyone let me know if I can use this as a manual system without a booster? I just wanted to swap this inplace of my single bowl old master and seperate the front and rear lines. Didn't think I needed a proportioning valve either if I stick with four drums. Is that true?
Sorry, here's more info:
Brake Master Cylinder
FJ40/55 7/70-1/75
Aisin (OEM manufacturer)
Bought through Liquid Offroad. It's replacing a single cylinder OEM one that was on my rig. Old mount had three bolts new one has four. Hope that helps.
2.5 x 2.5 box tube steel is teh way to go. Drill out your own mounting holes for the bolts and the holes. That's what i did and it cost me about $7 for the tube steel. Super heavy duty. I'll take a picture of it. New quarters and deck welded right to it.
I drilled out the four mounting holes and have the new master installed. There's no booster on this unit I don't think I need one do I? The drum brakes are all rebuilt. New pads, springs, cylinders, and drums turned. I'm keeping the drum brakes for now. I could lock em up before but, want to...
I'm upgrading my single brake cylinder to a newer model double cylinder. Seperating front drums from rear. Do I need a proportioning valve or do I just seprate the lines to each cylinder resevoir and that's it? I didn't see a proportioning valve on any of the two bowl cyclinder brake line diagrams.
Hey guys, I'm up here in Maine. I'd be glad to pay for shipping on any of your old 9mm fittings. Interested in the flare nuts and any of the female fittings that connect to the back of cyclinder and that T-fitting that the breather nut bolts through on the top of the axle. My direct email is...
brake line fittings 9mmx1.0 wanted
I just posted this in the tech support. Ooops
Is there anyone out there switching over to a disc brake setup on an older cruiser and getting rid of their 9mmx1.0 brake line fittings? I could use 6-8 of them.
So I can upgarde fitting 'A' to 10mm? I just bought $100 worth of new rear cyclinders. Will that other bolt fitting with brake fluid hole still fit through fitting 'A' to screw into back of cylinder?
A sketch is worth a thousand words
Here's what I'm up against. I have lots of fitting 'A' but the female thread size is 9mm. I can't find a double (or single flare) 3/16" brake line with a 9mm fitting. I don't mind switching to 10mm, but does that mean I need all new fitting 'A' pieces? OR, can...
Can I drill out my 9mm fittings and turn them into 10mm without ruining them? What have other people done to convert to 10mm when all the fittigns are 9mm? Can I buy new FJ40 fittings that are 10mm and use them? What year did they start using the 10mm instead of the 9mm? Sorry for so many...
