On the other side of that water, there was a number plate. In those comps you get points by touching the number plate with other hand and car with other and take pic of it. Harder to get the car near by the plate -> more points. Only major problem after swimming was empty batteries because of...
Still not 70-series (sorry), but Nissan Patrol in action. Competition, which is kind of orienteering, was held here in Finland last weekend. Notice that ice melt just few weeks ago in that part of country.

I don´t know what a trolling motor is, but pto winch and bull bar is all that are on the front. ;)
Another TLC from Finnish Land Cruiser club´s Russian tours. Didn´t drive out from there, but drove home couple of hundred miles.
Those are rear spring and middle axle of that Volvo c304. Spring is supposed to be in that "saddle". Also vacuum actuator of the locker is a bit damaged.
Not 70-series, but water playing Finnish style in Russia. All rigs drove home.

Right now i would really like to get my hands to that Hilux... again... Plan is to get it done as cheap as possible. Engine Volvo B230 with ZF auto, Russian GAZ transfer case, no portals this time, but some straight axles. Possibly from HJ60...
Update. BJ have been sitting in a barn with a broken birfield since july, because we bought a little farm and i have been busy with our new place. BUT, this came home again. Actually this is the third time when i own this Hilux...
In my Hilux (RIP), before coils, i had SUA front and SOA rear. Rear axle was bolted to leafs just like like yours and like i said, SOA. Never had any problems with that, but yes, welds have to be strong.
What comes to traction bars, make them. I made it to rear in the beginning of course, but...
I said LITTLE play ground... :steer:

I´m not coming to Lapland trophy this year. As a matter of fact, it is possible that i won´t be wheeling much at all this year. :frown: We made an offer of a house from year 1915 and if i manage to sell my present house, we buy it. And that means so much work...
-90 and up LJ/RJ-70 has bigger birf than older. It´s size is between normal and HDJ/HZJ size. What year are your axles, Sloid?
And yes, Russian has a lot of possibilities. But it is a crazy country.
