    During the valve stem seal replacement I found out that the truck has a blown head gasket. As a result, the truck is no longer for sale and I am tearing the engine down for a top-end rebuild.

    Just to follow up here, I ended up replacing the body side of the o2 sensor connectors off of a donor rig and it fixed the problem permanently.

    Thanks. It has 105,120 miles and it is missing the super collectible 1990's era tape deck. Guess it's the only 4.3 on the planet that needs valve seals. :rolleyes:
