What did you do on your 70 series today?

Tigris 3 got much needed new shoes. Went with the BF Goodrich KO2 in 32x11.50x15

    KZJ78 Radiator replacement?

It is. Judging by the mounting points, shroud fitment, and the additional tapped holes and captives moulded into the tank to attach other things just like the on OE radiator. Here are some pics.

    KZJ78 Radiator replacement?

@Lomoski That I do not know. My truck came with it and so did the Hilux. I would certainly be interested in getting one if I am ever in the market for a radiator. Quality stuff.

    KZJ78 Radiator replacement?

In my personal experience, this radiator is very dependable. I have one on my KZJ78 now and driven a Hilux with a similar unit. OE fitment and performance ( based on how that Hilux was put through hell and back without issues). I drive my KZJ78 routinely at highway speeds (70-85 mph) in the...

70 Series (light duty) Shock Interchangeability / Options

Thank you @Joshua225 Since my truck came with JDM supplied taller springs and OEM shocks, I would actually like to maintain the current stance (lifted). You are correct about the polyurethane bushings being less accommodating for flexing, but that is a plus for my current use of the truck...

70 Series (light duty) Shock Interchangeability / Options

^ good info. Thank you for sharing your findings. Still debating which shocks I want for my KZJ78, the ones highlighted by @malteser are certainly interesting, they sound like real quality stuff. Pair of front shock absorbers Toyota KZJ70 +2.4" -...

    Builds The "Red Rocket" Troopy

Nifty Trooper. Of course, it is rather difficult to admire another truck/maker when you drive a legend. Seeing what was clearly inspired by the 70 Series on the offerings of other makers is both neat and perplexing all at once. 1/400 in the US is great conversation opener, but I have all the...

Completely understandable. 😊 Thank you for the clarification! Fantastic work 👏

What did you do on your 70 series today?

Nice find! That FSM page showing the acceptable patterns is certainly interesting. I was under the impression that the contact pattern depicted in the last figure (bottom right of page) was grounds for rejection. But I guess if the good book says it's acceptable then who am I to argue 😆

    1KD project 'no turning back'

I like what I'm seeing here. With a little more tidying up this would look like if the truck came with it (since this engine shares a lot of DNA with the 1KZ), Good work!

Events/Trails South Island New Zealand | A Road Trip on 35mm Film

What?! Land Rover is not the "Best Four by Four by Far"? 😆 My favorite YouTube creator from NZ is Geoffrey Croker and he has a series lll Land Rover and a Disco, I do like the old Land Rover content though, old machines do have a charm, even if they come out of Solihull, England 😆

    Builds The "Red Rocket" Troopy

Hey Johnathan, that's life right there.. Keep at it man. Long time ago, my brother got a complete third degree burn on his entire right arm and neck draining fuel for a generator out of the bottom of an old 80 series fuel tank I had 20 years ago. It was dark and his lantern was a good 10 feet...

Does my Prado (KZJ78) have a fuel lift pump?

A little something about air leaks into the fuel system. In terms of the supply/return fuel loop (aside form the rigid metal lines), you really only dealing with three different sizes of rubber lines. Getting a few feet worth of some good quality rubber hoses like the ones from Evil Energy...

What did you do on your 70 series today?

Lol the guy tried 😆 I simply said that my truck didn't have one. He paused for a second and then said: OK Ordered all the little bits I can Shawshank in my luggage when I head back home 😆

Does my Prado (KZJ78) have a fuel lift pump?

That right there is correct ^ Toyota prescribed a specific grease for the hub. Many of the issues with the electric hubs were stemming from not using the correct grease in there. I learned that the somewhat hard way. After I took the hubs apart again and ultrasonically cleaned them from the...

What did you do on your 70 series today?

Yep. That was a problem of mine (minus the white smoke). I had to replace that pitcock water drain and the o-ring with OEM stuff. I remember measuring the body and the groove for the o-ring with a good micrometer and it was ever so slightly small. (less than 0.5mm). The old part looked original...
