Newly rebuilt front hubs, repacked bearings, new HD inner/outer oil seals, etc.
Oil galley mod, new marine battery, new fuel pump, new exhaust gaskets...
Hey Marshall, high altitude question for you. I didn't see any red rivet under the bowl, although I did specify high altitude several times. So I pulled the jet below and to the left of the sight glass and unscrewed the spare jet attached to the bolt. Is there any difference between the two...
Out of nowhere is how most things on my rig pop up. Like the heater core that was pissing coolant in my floorboard last month...where the cuss did that come from?
If certain no vac leak, then I second the solenoid.
By the way, if it makes you feel better I chipped a tooth on the cruiser...
Don't jinx yourself there mister. If you're itchin' for a little more tool time do the oil galley plug. It's relatively easy, well-documented and good insurance against a seized engine in BFE.
Two days after my first knuckle rebuild in the snow, I developed idle issues which ended up turning...
Ah, the knuckle rebuild snowball...
Check the FAQ, search "knuckle rebuild", "cone washers", "knuckle shims", "bearing preload", and you might begin to get an idea of what you're gonna be doing. Easy job, but takes some time and requires several specialty tools that you probably don't have...
Well the consensus on this issue is that it's better to have a bearing too tight than a bearing too loose. Here's what I do, and what I think a lot of others do as well, in some form or other.
Seat your bearing following the FSM (43ft-lb, rotate left and right, etc.) Then I loosen the nut...
Bleed dem brakes man. Hit that galley plug too, super easy (just some time and steady hands, and a couple new tools) and you won't have to worry about it ever again. I did it in about an hour.
Although, with 98K on a 2F I wouldn't worry too much.
The large line running off the top of the PCV valve runs over to the EGR inlet that connects to the intake manifold just below the carb. There should be a "T" in this line close to the PCV valve.
The other port of the "T" should run to the HIC valve (white valve on bottom of air cleaner...
So it looks like I can just connect the hose coming over the back of the valve cover to the line that snakes down and around the dissy, etc.
Anybody that's done this give me a confirmation as to ease my soul...
Looks like my heater core took a dump, as there is coolant collecting in my passenger side floorboard.
Is it possible to bypass the core temporarily to make the rig usable until new core arrives?
Not sure on which hoses to join....
Doing a desmog or not, pull that stuff out as one piece and then disassemble from there. It's a lot easier to get to the two bolts that hold the EGR cooler on.
The nut that gave me hell was the one at the J-tube connection to the cooler, number 27 above. Had to cut the pipe at the nut and...
I'd say he's got his hands full with one wife in the bag.
Find a unused area of the cruiser and pack it full of vitamin B12, Vit D, ginkgo, and St. Johns Wort for those unruly winter nights...
And just go.
My vote is stock. As stated rebuild or Trollhole.
I just finished my desmog today and after a quick adjustment to idle speed she roared to life after nearly 5 months of sitting in my driveway gathering snow.
