FJ60 axle swap without outboarding springs

I'd like to ditch wheel spacers in the front on my FJ40 and I need to replace my front axle housing anyway (trashed inner seal surface from too many broken birfs) I'd rather not outboard the front springs, has anyone done this by notching the passenger side leaf spring into the axle housing?

For those with dash boxes - swap to combination lock

I love my dash box but didn't care for the key lock, something else to carry/lose and required to close the dash box lid. I often lock my keys in the dash box when I'm parked for a mountain bike ride or a run. My wife's new bronco came with the security console option that has a nice cam...

    Front seats

Currently have Corbeau Baja seats mounted to a cage seat cradle with race harnesses, from back when I did a lot of "serious" rock crawling. The seats have held up well, and I find them comfortable but now I mostly drive the kids around town and go on a few camping trips a year. The setup is not...

Who made this (factory style) soft top?

I bought this factory style soft top off facebook marketplace and put it on a Real Steal bow set. It is a plain canvas material (feels kinda thin TBH). The sides completely zip off to make a "bikini" top. Based on the bikini top and trail cover I have from Julie I don't think it is a...

    Side of the road question

40 started stumbling while driving city roads at 40ish mph. Engine starts easily and will stay running only if I continuously feather the pedal. Fuel level in float bowl is correct. It’s the original Aisan @FJ40Jim rebuilt for me 16 years ago on the original 1.5F Maybe trash blocking the...

    Balancing 325/85R16 (38") Michelins

Many in this corner may not worry about balancing, but I also doubt many in the regular tech sections are thinking about tires this heavy.🤷‍♂️ Has anyone balanced these with internal beads? I am not having much success, and trying to figure out if I should keep adding more or give up and go...

    Would you install this radiator?

Ordered a new radiator from toyotapartsdeal, it arrived with a damaged box and a dent in the bottom tank. TPD is offering a partial refund if I keep it. Would you take the discount and run it or spend the time to wait on a another new one?

    H42 Clutch inspection cover changes

Just swapped a H42 + split case into my originally 3 speed early ‘74 model. I’m not sure what the bellhousing came from, but it did have the provisions to mount slave cylinder on either side which I think the 60 series bellhousings did not have. I don’t have, and need an inspection cover for...

'74 FJ40 original 1.5F, with JimC rebuilt stock carb (rebuild was 15 years ago). FJ60 ignition system. Poly tank -> OEM Evap Emissions

almost 20 years ago I installed a poly tank in my FJ40 and found that the vapor separator (on my 10/73 mounted next to the filler neck) and check valve were both broken. Charcoal canister long gone. I am currently replacing the poly tank with an OEM tank. What's the "best/simplest" way to set up...

Poly gas tank to new OEM

about 20 years ago I replaced a leaky oem tank with a CCOT poly tank. After 20 years of gas fumes and reduced capacity I have ordered a new OEM tank. I recall when I put in the poly tank the tank connections were different so I had to adapt the filler hose which means I'll need new hoses that...
