Like cartoon paint! Smelled and felt like gear oil still, but super weird the color. I'm familiar with the milkshake from coolant and leaky HG, but this is new to me.
Great call, I'll do that.
My working theory is the trans was submerged and water got into the breather and then sat for decades.
Getting my 40 ready for her maiden (to me) voyage, and was checking my driveline fluids when I came across this interesting sight. I guess my question is, when replacing the mustard fluid in the transmission, is it best to stick with the OEM Yellow Mustard? Has anyone had problems with honey...
Vintage Jackman wheels from my 1975 FJ40. Were dealer installed per the original owner for my FJ40.
15x8" with 3.25" backspacing. Wheels will need to be refinished as they've seen some sh*t in their day. Or not, I'm not here to tell you what to do or how to live...
Just had to do this with my 75. The circuit diagram isn't super clear, but the battery circuit goes through the ammeter as previously explained. Goofy but simple, on to the next challenge!
So this will be a fun update at my expense...
Reviewing the wiring diagram I didn't quite understand how the ignition switch was getting power. When things should be easy but aren't, I like to go back and check assumptions and I could never shake the feeling the circuit was not completed (I...
And confirmed, no power at the BW wire with key on/start. I pulled the harness and there's corrosion galore. I'll spend some time cleaning up and give it another go soon enough. Appreciate the input/help thus far.
More to follow.
Thanks Ian, I'll DM you. I'm just south of Sunset Valley but north of Shady Hollow, so we're probably not far off. I might take you up on the reference inspection.
I'm a bit stumped here and hoping someone can help me out.
My '75 was disassembled prior to my receipt, and I'm trying to lego this thing back together (with some tweaks along the way).
I confirmed my starter is good/working using a remote switch and/or screwdriver to jump the leads, however...
I was inspired by @wngrog 's 75 Moe Green build thread and decided to document my own 75 build to really highlight the differences between a diligent professional and...me.
The story of how this 40 came to be in my life went something like this:
-Wife: I want an original Bronco
-Me: Funny. I...
I look forward to finishing my build while also helping Matt get his beach house.
Yes sarcasm because this truck is a money pit but glad there are good vendors here/in the community to keep these rigs running.
