    Home Shop Air Compressors

Try to spend the money on Ingersal-Rand. I used to work with a rental company and we rented all kinds of compressors but the only one that lasted the abuse of rental equipment was the Ingersal-Rand, AirMan came second. Jesse

    Transfer case rebuild

    >>I know in older chevy's each drivebelt uses approx 20 hp That sounds hard to believe because most of them had three belts = 60 hp. Maybe i am wrong though. Jesse

    removing the dash

Its not so bad, after removing the gauge cluster, heater, 4WD controls etc then you can just pull everything down a little and work on it. Or if you really want to unhook everything and pull the whole harness out. Lay it out on the garage floor and make a duplicate. Not hard and you can find...

    Brake Drum Screw??

If I am thinking right that screw is what keeps the drum centered. My FJ-40 did not have the screws when i got it, i never had any problems with-out them. I am not saying that you should remove them or anything, but maybe you could find a screw that fits in there flush with the drum. Jesse

    Do chevy wheels fit?

I may be wrong but i dont think the chevy wheels will fit ovet the front hub. I tried to fit some but the center hole is too small. I had 33s on my FJ40 with a 2f and it drove fine. Jesse

    winch techniques

After use i always tied it off on a tree spooled it up that way. My understanding is that the lug that holds the cable to the spool should not ever get any real tension on it. So that means that the first roll has to be really tight. Jesse

    Replace Crank bearing?

It all depends on a few things. 1: How badly worn is it? (measure it with plastiguage) 2: How much do you drive it? If you did not drive it everyday and its not to badly worn you might be able to just replace the bearing. Maybe clean the crank up with some emory cloth etc?? Good Luck. Jesse

    oil to head?

What engine do you have?? Yes oil should be coming out of the rocker arms. My 69 F had the same problem, the PO put the bushings in backwards so the holes in the bushings did not line up with the holes in the rocker arms. If the engine is a 2F possibly the head gasket is on backwards, if i...

    Tested automotive rescue tool tonight

snip>the doors may or may not be openable depending on the wreck and how the truck is sitting on the ecean bottom I dont think you could open the doors if you are underwater unless there is equall pressure inside the car. Infact I once saw a safty show where they showed you how to get out of...

    A Bit Baffling?

Could they be related, if your engine is running lean and your brakes dont work i would assume a serious vacuum leak could cause this right. I dont know much about the 80 series and how much the computer can compensate but that is what i would look for. Good Luck Jesse

    Knocking...oops

Easy way to check for rod knock is to pull one spark plug wire at a time(dont get shocked). If you do have a bad/loose rod than the noise will get quieter when you remove that perticular wire. Jesse

Towing brake controller in tow package?

If you do not see an adjuster anywhere than i would be willing to bet that the brake controller does not exist. And if it does have a brake controller but no adjuster i would rewire the system with a aftermarket system because you really need to have some way of adjusting the voltage to the...

    Home Built First Aid kit

I agree with CDN_Cruiser on sutures in the field. I sliced my foot open surfing and went to the Campus nurse to have stiches. They just sewed it up and said i would be fine. One week later i cant move my ankle or touch my leg without a lot of pain. Went to the emergency room that night and they...

    My 100 is too tall

How about strips of teflon. I dont really know if you can buy what i am thinking of but my dad used to bring big blocks of teflon home from his work(used to slide the pipe in to the presses) after they had used it. I was thinking of a strip of teflon 1/8 inch thick all the way down the rails of...

    speedo cable

I always removed the cable from the x-fer case so that i could get more slack out of the line. This allows you to pull the cluster out farther so you can get a grip on the cable. Jesse

Yes remove the four bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing. I dont believe that you will need to remove the bell housing. Jesse
