I dusted off the hard top components. I have been driving my rig without ever having properly restored the hard top. I had the tub acid dipped here in Arlington, TX several years ago during the frame-off. I called Metal Rehab (the place I got the tub dipped), and they are out of business! I...
Same here. I bought a Red Top back around 2007, and it is just now showing signs of weakening. And I fear it is due mostly to less frequent usage of the truck.
My wife and I are headed to Hot Springs this summer and want to find out where we might be able to hit some trails. We have spent most of our FJ40 time in Ouray, CO or Moab, UT. Looking to expand our horizons slowly towards the east coast.
Any idea? has anybody heard of this place...
My Dad has a 2008 Jeep JK with a 5.3L LS transplant. The electric fan isn't cycling anymore. I am trying to work backwards from the fan, which I have verified works. The next thing online is this little green coated cylinder. The core looks to be ceramic. What is its function?
I refuse to add mine all up. I have them all very nice and tidy in a binder, but they will forever remain unsummed....Everytime a new part comes in, and my wife asks how much, I tell her "20 bucks.....":grinpimp:

Here is my quandary. I have a 2008 F-250 Diesel that I love. I just dropped some monstrous coin to get a rear main seal and my SECOND radiator replaced. The truck has 93k. These are supposed to be 250k mile trucks at least. From what I understand, this year model truck has several...
Anybody tow a FJ40 and assorted gear four up on a flat bed or enclosed trailer using an Eco Boost F150. Website says they can be equipped to to haul 11200. Just wanting some actual testimonials on that...

Almost done.
Thanks to everyone on this thread. It was a great help. Here are some pics of my almost completed 8274. Just need to finish up the solenoid pack. This thread was a lifesaver. Pics are linked from the "What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week" thread. I should have...
Finally got the Warn 8274 all redone and put back together. Still have to do the solenoid pack and wire her up. I think I may have gone too silver on the finish though. Was hoping for a darker pewter looking color. Any recommendations on synthetic line?

All,
I recently rebuilt the brake assembly on my 8274, and re-installed it into the lower housing. Evertyhting fits properly. Everything spins smoothly with and effort I would expect given the gear ratios involved.
My question is this. Should I hear the ball bearings in the brake assembly...
This thing has been in my garage long enough. I have an OEM tire carrier from a 1/'79 FJ40. I am not even sure what it is worth. Maybe 80 bucks?
I don't want to put it up on craigslist because I will get a bunch of yahoos calling to ask if it fits on a jeep. I think shipping prices will...
I can recommend Top Koat. Very upstanding young man runs the place. Honest, and extremely detail oriented. I took all my stuff to him.

Frame
RockTactics,
Looks like some really nice welding skills. I do have a question for you though. Do you have plans to stiffen up the frame on the forward and aft ends where the frame consists of a tubular cross section? I am wondering if you are not going to have some bending stress...
Tear Down
All,
Which way does this shaft come out? It looks as though one side had been disturbed to keep from having the shaft migrate. but I cannot tell if it matters the direction in which the shaft is pressed out. Or can I sandblast with this gear still in place. (Maybe just tape it off...
I used the OEM dual diaphram booster rebuilt by Dewey. I had a new master cylinder. I took the 5lb residual valve out of the master cylinder that is internal, and then put the in-line 2lb residual in series just before the proportioning valve. From there, the line leaves the proportioning...
