Land Cruiser ‘Land cruiser trim’ vs 6th gen 4R TRDpro. Which would you pick?

Ok, as they say you’ve piqued my curiosity. Where you at? I’m thinking it’s got to be high, coastal AK or perhaps near Denali highway. (Or was Anchorage really that cold last summer).

Yeah, thanks to you all for talking me out of it.

    Hood paint suggestions

My 80 has pretty good looking paint except for the hood, where it’s all scratched up. I’m considering painting over the black with a rattle can. Questions being, a good idea or not, and if so glossy, matte or flat? No concerns here about this 80 being a show car-it is not.

Land Cruiser ‘Land cruiser trim’ vs 6th gen 4R TRDpro. Which would you pick?

Do we definitively know that the Premium 4Runner will be the only trim offered with full time 4wd? Just because this was the case with previous generation I'd be cautious about assuming it's true with the new one.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Added a bit of color to it with these side stripes.

Land Cruiser ‘Land cruiser trim’ vs 6th gen 4R TRDpro. Which would you pick?

They are similar enough that it might come down to which one is more aesthetically pleasing to an individual. The Hunter and Pro 4Runner both look real good to me. I’d have to at least sit in these respective models to make a pick. The 250 stands taller so it might have better headroom and...

This is probably going to be very unliked, but this is just like my opinion man. This is my issue with the LC250

Scott Brady weighs in today at Expo. I will post a couple pull quotes: https://expeditionportal.com/does-the-new-land-cruiser-250-have-what-it-takes-to-overland/?mc_cid=3029c98c1d&mc_eid=123732c69c "..Overall, the Land Cruiser’s capability looks better than average for the segment and...

Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk July 2024

The Kenai peninsula is spectacular, at least during good weather. Homer and Seward are both worthwhile destinations. We did both last summer. I enjoyed Seward the most. Didn't have time to see Whittier, unfortunately.

    Seat position

Good to know. I can't fold down the second row seat behind me with your seat extension all the way back, so it must be that half inch that's responsible. Not a complaint, just an observation.

    my 80 series build

Was it a rollover, what caused the crash? No harm no foul, I guess. You don't look unhappy or injured as a result.

Is this the good kinda rust or the bad kind?

If it's really what you want and basically affordable at this price, I wouldn't worry too much about what others think. Yeah, maybe offer him a bit less,, like -$1500. Good luck!

Wheel fell off near Scipio Utah

A littering treehugger who had also driven in and had the correct lug nut wrench to loosen yours? Seems unlikely to me, although 6 going all at once for OP is a bit suspicious. Could this have happened due to a loose wheel bearing?

Is this the good kinda rust or the bad kind?

The seller needs to drop the price. This rig probably hasn't been in California all its life, a major minus competing with other 80s FS in your area that would be rust free. The Delta bracket shown in the photo is for fixing driveability issues with a lifted rig. It sounds like everything...

Is this the good kinda rust or the bad kind?

There is no good rust, although that looks minor to me. Considering your location, I wouldn't settle for anything less than no rust.

This is probably going to be very unliked, but this is just like my opinion man. This is my issue with the LC250

The quote imparts sarcasm. I know that Toyota considers them deserving of the name Land Cruiser. Some people don't agree, believing only the heavy duty 70 series and luxury versions are deserving. They have an arguable point, based on the past use of this model name here in the US. Toyota...

I think the 4Runner TRD pro has the features you mention above. Plus, it has more ground clearance than the 250.

Right, the LX600 is a "real" Land Cruiser then. So, the 550 is more heavy duty than the new US LC. Hmm. Does that make the 250 a Prado lite?

If Toyota offered the 300 series in US, would everyone be happy? Oh wait, they do. It's the GX 550. Let's see what the sales numbers for the Lexus are compared to the 250. Admittedly, if I was a rich guy looking for a new "Land Cruiser", the GX would probably be my choice. Of course...
