From what I can gather, the 74 will line up with all the frame mounts. I gather the holes will also line up with my oem seat brackets, tranny cover, roll bar. Is that correct?
The dash will be a little different as it doesn't have the seatbelt light and the defrost vent holes on each side...
Thank you for posting this info. Maybe this has been answered and I missed it, but from the pics it looks like there aren't any threads for the spare tier carrier is that correct? If there is, is there the backer plate welded in place to support the load like on the OEM tub? If not I can just...
Top of the photo, above the tow hook holes. One on each side. I have looked at some other stock photos and haven't seen them on others (and the bolts aren't stock). Any ideas?
1978. I know I'm missing the VSV, but it looks like I have a ABV, which is sometimes removed during de-smogging? I'm not really a mechanic, but I'm always wanting to learn. I'd like to know how my 40 was de-smogged, what is missing, what they did, etc. just to make sure I'm not overlooking...
Good to hear. I think people are more than happy to wait an extra month or two if it means getting backing plates, captive nuts, roll bar supports, etc. Thanks for at least listening to our feedback!
Also, can I buy just the rear hardtop brace? The piece that adjoins the two top sides...
Tim, will the -78 tubs come with the spare tire carrier backer plates? How about the roll bar supports? I think you said previously that the holes would not be pre-drilled/tapped, is that correct?
They look like OEM toyota bolts, but they don't seem to do anything. I'm taking this thing apart and I can't remember anything being there, and there isn't anything underneath supported by these bolts. 78 US spec 40. That's a top-down pic of the drivers side rear wheel well, the four empty...
Good stuff. I sold my cruiser after high school to pay for my mission too. 24 years later I finally got another one and I'm slowly chipping away. Looking forward to seeing your updates.
1978 hard top upper sides/rear cross member. From what I can tell, this rotted area on the hard top is supposed to be flat/follow contour, correct? Hoping to see a pic if anyone has one/knows where to look of what a clean one looks like. Also, it looks like there's a seal on the ends of the...
That's what I figured. I guess that's why I have regular bolts fastened to the windshield, rather than the black-handled fastener (because that bar gets in the way of the black handles). I'll be taking it off and patching when I paint.
Yes, carpet is coming out and is the reason for some of...
