I was out at the ranch working cattle again this spring. And of course working on the 73!
Unfortunately, didn't take any progress pictures this trip of the work. But, I was able to replace a few leaking hoses, clean out/replace thermostat, and get 2 new 31/10.50r15 tires for the back (it was a...
Finally out at the family ranch again. Haven't done any work to it this trip. Just driving it around and enjoying it while I'm home. I did notice the radiator hoses are looking pretty poorly and one started a little leak. So that's probably the next project when I come back next spring. Hoping...
What is the best way to get ahold of her? I messaged her through her Facebook business page but haven't heard back yet. I too wish I lived where her shop is. I have dabbled in sewing and that could be a neat job. Probably pays the same I make as a carpenter haha
Not to hijack a thread, because it is relevant, but could anyone with SOR tops and door skins post pictures and their thoughts? I am looking really hard at them for my FST and would also appreciate first hand insight. That Dirt Road Top looks absolutely primo though.
None taken friend. Do you mean Spector Off Road? I haven't bought anything from them yet. But I am looking really hard at their soft top and door skins. Haven't found any others except a bikini top from Bestop and I think I stumbled across a company by the name of Troll Hole? Can't remember for...
Finally back at the ranch and working on the project! Been a long sad winter waiting. Poor old Land Cruiser has to sit on blocks waiting for a set of rollers. Also got an aftermarket fuel pump. Seemed sketchy.... But it's working and it will start, idle, and not leak! So, I changed the oil as...
I may have to spend a few months away from my project, but I hope this will give me enough time to enlighten myself on some of the repairs I know I need to do down the road.
Thank you! I absolutely want to keep it a soft top now that I'm starting to understand just what it is. And I don't want to molest it. I just want to fix it and drive it. I want it to retain it's original character as much as possible.
I seriously scored today, the last day I had at my family's ranch before I have to go back to my normal grind.
Had a gut feeling to go back to the barn where the Cruiser had been parked for so long, did some digging, and managed to find the tire carrier with the washers, castle nuts, and cotter...
My seats are in rough shape. I have a lot of mechanical things to sort out, but down the road, in your opinion, is self building the foam worthwhile? Would you do it again or buy foam? I've never rebuilt seats before, but it looks more affordable than buying a new set of aftermarket seats.
