It's nice weather and the top is perpetually off my fj so I think I will get the brakes fixed and maybe on a rainy weekend do the knuckles or over the winter, I'm replacing bearings now so won't be a big deal to pull all this off again and Ill just replace the seal again to do the knuckles.
Thanks.
I took off the caliper from the bracket and laid it on leaf spring with a zip tie in case my ankle biter came to the garage and got curious, had no idea the rotors are such a big deal to replace, got the bearings, seal and race, ugh.
So, cleaned the plugs and started right up. Still have plans to rebuild carb but what is happening is while driving the choke circuit somehow becomes engaged. Happened a minute ago again. I can pump the gas pedal a few times and it releases. My choke pull is firm and all the linkage looks...
This car has run very little the past 5 years after a rebuild/restore. Think i need to rebuild carb for piece of mind anyway, is it doable or better to send to Mark offroad?
I don't think I'm going to do a compression yet, the fact that all plugs are fouled and it ran too good even a day ago. sure feels like over fueling but I have little experience with carbs.
Yeah, air filter looks okay, replacing today just for the fun of it. Think it's factory pump. It ran great, maybe a bit rich at idle (I could smell it) but all of a sudden it started running like hell as I got to my neighborhood, not a gradual thing, almost felt like it was running with choke...
77 been running perfectly, started to miss and smoke after a 4 mile drive. All plugs are carbon fouled, just tuned up a 100 miles or so ago. Oil looks good, coolant good, compression test tomorrow but think it's carb related? What to do to start diagnosis?
Eh, not too bad, a little light corrosion here and there, most of it knocks off with wire brush. I don't see any issues with my connectors.
Ordered new vr, will have it on tomorrow. Thanks all.
yeah, good catch. That's from that junky jtoutfitters power steering bracket. Even after hacking on it it still doesn't line up well, going to have remove and modify some more.
77 with what looks like stock alternator. My battery and gauge are showing 15volts+ during output. Is this externally regulated? If so, where is the regulator? Can I replace with an alternator that is internally regulated if not? Thanks.
I hope that's not the case, jtoutfitters addressed that very concern and said running a narrower belt in a wider pulley is okay, but running a wider belt in a narrower pulley is not okay. I'll run it a while and if it doesn't work I'll try to track down a wide belt pulley for the saginaw.
