    Input requested: brakes

Rotors on passenger cars almost never warp. The pulsing pedal that we often attribute to a warped rotor is actually material buildup on the rotor. A proper re-bedding of the brake pads will usually fix the problem. Stoptech has some great info on this...

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

Bringing back the classic Porthole rack is a cool idea... It should try and do things the classic welded rack couldn't do. Ignoring costs for a minute lets look at optimizing what a modern version of this rack could be/do Vs. the classic. Be lighter Be corrosion proof Be modular Be easier...

Well we made it. Team Smurf ran the ‘Con from Georgetown to Tahoma. I was absolutely shocked at how well this FJ worked. Had an amazing time with my 10 year old son ( Who became a pretty decent spotter) Will write up the entire trip in the next week or two but will leave to with some of my...

Aisan carb question, the final chapter.

Well that was more of a wish than anything else... Pulled everything off, used gasket adhesive, put it all back together and the leak is worse. It moved from the carb body to the spacer/intake junction so I have that going for me.

Aisan carb question, the final chapter.

My spacer/heat-shield is in good shape and have gaskets for both sides... Its the EGR spacer between the cast throttle body and the venturi plenum that I dont have gaskets for. Just pulled it apart, used some spray permatex and will try it. If that doesnt work it looks like there are other...

Aisan carb question, the final chapter.

YUP !!! There is a leak between the throttle body and the EGR spacer. The Carb kit didn't include those gaskets so I cleaned and carefully reused what was there... Unfortunately I failed!!! Letting the truck cool down now and the carb is coming off again. What does everybody use to fix this...

Aisan carb question, the final chapter.

Digging up an old thread… Just kitted the carb on the 78 and it wont idle without the choke pulled out just a smidge. The mixture screw has no effect at all and when it is ‘’idling” all the fuel is driping from the primary Venturi. pulled the idle cut solenoid and it appears to be working...

Another quick project was a rear “Tailgate” Pelican has a low end line of cases with one of them being a suitable size. Some large strap hinges, gate clasps, and chain is all it took. Cheap and effective for the win.

Worked on mimicking the existing body lines/details. The leading edge is chamfered at 45 degrees following the fender line and the back has a radius. The front mount is the running board bracket with the rear being heavy wall tube and a bolt plate.

Todays Question: The fuel pump rebuild kit only came with two check valves, there are 4 in the pump… which side does a person replace? UPON EDIT In the pumps with 4 check valves, the valves are staked in place and not serviceable.
