I’ve got a brand new Weber 32/36 that came from JT Outfitters. It came with a truck I bought and I only used it to fire the engine and drive around the block until I rebuilt the stock carb. Has less than 5 miles on it.
$300 shipped.
Mechanical pump back on and fired right up. I noticed the fuel level in the sight glass is in the lower 1/3. I can rev the truck and cause it to sputter still, so I need to readjust the float. I set it to the FSM, but looks like I should’ve left it alone.
I’m shooting for 1/2 to 3/4 full in...
Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes that reason is to fix the POs mistakes! Traced the lines back to the tank and sure enough the PO had the supply line hooked to the return on the tank. Swapped lines and fired right up!
Had I not drained the tank empty, I would’ve been chasing my...
Got it mounted as close to this as possible on the frame. Instructions said to be within 12” of vertical. Given how my weekend has gone, I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple. 😂
Alright. Electric pump wired up and will not prime. I guess what I forgot to mention was that I completely drained the tank at the beginning of this process to rule out bad fuel as the stumbling issue. I’m wondering if the pickup fell off?
Can anyone tell me how the fuel pickup is oriented in...
Well, crap. Maybe I’ll be throwing an electric pump on then 😂🤦🏼♂️
I’ll run my camera into the slot and check the cam, but everything felt smooth when I replaced it. But… it’s starting to make sense why the pump arm was welded on.
Alright, back on this and having an issue. Replaced the old pump with a brand new Toyota replacement from city racer. Cannot get the pump to prime. I’ve done this a million times on several different engines, so I’m confident it’s not me.
Filled the carb and ran it for several minutes, multiple...
Thanks! No on the exhaust, but still plugging away when I’ve got time. Our youngest son (15 next month) bought his first truck that’ll need a little attention and I’m wrapping up an LS swap on a Scout II for a co-worker.
Here’s a pic of the boy and his truck. Not a bad field find for $500.
I actually bought this pump to get rid of an electric setup on one of my fj40s 😂.
For now I’m keeping my tinfoil hat on and refusing to have electronics in the 55’. Points, carb, mechanical pump and no radio. 😂😂
After pulling the 32/36 Weber and swapping back to the 75’ carb I rebuilt, I was still having a stumbling issue under a load. I had a brand new fuel pump from City Racer, so I swapped them out.
If you look close, it appears the pump arm on the presumed Chinese replacement was too short, so...

Okay, back on this. Pulled the 32/36 Weber to put a factory carb back on. Took some pics of the intake. The channels appear to be port dividers, which I confirmed with a scope. I ended up rebuilding a 75’ carb I had and the block checks out to be an early 2f.
Just when I thought @jomelo 70 series truck was my favorite build right now (which it still is), you started this one. Something about this truck and color that is perfect. Can’t wait to see this one finished and I envy your energy.
The butterfly must’ve had a slight bend in it stock because after I fattened it, it no longer fits the hole. That was my dumb fault for not paying attention.
I posted in the wanted section, but just in case not everyone checks over there I thought I’d post here too.
I’m rebuilding the stock carb off my recently acquired 1974 fj55, to replace the 32/36 Weber it came with. Looks like moisture got the best of the carb and after several days of soaking...
