I would recommend the KDSS adapters from DRKdss as well as a preventative maintenance. Just got them installed along with FCP. They help correct the sway bar angle and will atleast save the bushings if not any other benefit.

I just did the diode and able to see almost 14v (13.8) out of the stock alternator. It maybe stressing the alternator but if the end result is to delay a new alternator, I am ok with that. I am guessing with Toyota reliability, I may have a few 100k miles till when I need an upgrade.

@McDuff123 I did actually add a 1 AMP diode as outlined in some youtube videos. Has anyone checked long term on how to maintain the AGM batteries. Is the Diode enough to get it charged? (I saw a voltage of 14.31 when I started the truck with the diode installed).
Quick update on my project. I decided to go with a larger battery 27f X2 power AGM for now. I plan to buy a battery box which can be connected using a dc-dc charger in the back. The 27f fit perfectly with no issues. It is the largest size you can put and the gx looks to be designed with that...
The tray is not really supporting the weight. Actually with the current small battery size I think you can just toss it out as it does literally nothing. It is placed on top of a metal bracked made to support the battery on the fender. The battery brackets are also not part of the tray. They...
Very nice. Looks like we have some folk running Li batteries. Did any one do a AGM 27F as the starter battery? My main concern is the air compressor (which is used with some regularity) and the winch (which is yet to be needed) will hurt the battery life. I will probably buy a li jump pack or...
A quick update. The battery trays ordered look too big and even cutting them will probably not fit the said Group 24 batteries. I checked various things with the battery removed and it does look like any thing bigger than the PC1200 on @r2m build will most probably not fit. The max space...
Thanks for the heads-up. I will keep updating. It looks like I may just get some fender re-enforcement and get some custom work from my local fabricator. I think this will fit. I will update next weekend when I will have this in-hand and take out the OEM for a basic fit test.
I also am planning...
So quick update. I found this tray for dual group 34 batterys on Amazon, which I am planning to mount in the stock battery location. Lets see how that goes. I will probably have to trim of a few things but wiling to give it a shot.
It looks like OffGrid kits parts, if sourced directly cost a couple of hundred less than the kit itself. Is that the convenience fee if i get one of the kits or something I am missing from the description given online?
Thanks @r2m that is what I am trying to replicate although working it alone. Maybe I will get the trays welded locally once I get everything setup as needed.
Taking inspiration from various threads, I am starting on this project to get a DIY dual battery setup. This is to track my progress and help from existing members who have way more experience with this sort of thing then me.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will probably go custom on this one. Dont want to add more weight on the rear as I mostly dont do those kind of trails. I just added a metaltech hitch and a bumper cut (OEM Htich delete) for added clearence and weight reduction. I will see if I can get a...
I am planning to upgrade to a metal tech hitch with a bumper cut in the next few weeks. So If someone is looking for it in the Bay area, I will have one as a spare. I dont tow currently so it mostly for recovery and maybe regular camping gear...
Did you settle on anything yet? I am in the same boat. Just need the tire carrier and finally ended here looking for a bumper. Not sure if jw carrier is a good solution.
