Price. Unless there are major red flags to using JDM motors. Landcruiser heaven has JDM’s for $3,600 and under 275k.
My 1FZFE started knocking real bad back in spring. I parked it and haven’t started trouble shooting or taking it apart yet due to job situation. Now that my job is lined out...
I have a 97 LC with an engine that may need swapped out. If I were to source a JDM spec motor from landcruiser heaven would it be a simple “one for one” swap or would I run into wiring harness and electrical readout issues since the JDM spec motor does not have an ERG ?
I am leaning much harder towards a swap out of a lower mileage 1FZFE, finding a rebuilt 1FZFE to swap it out with (believe I saw someone selling rebuilt long blocks on here), or attempting to rebuild it myself.
If I can find an el cheapo daily driver in the interim then that will make the...
Received the oil analysis results (shown below). I have no knowledge or experience with oil analyses but the comments sections describes elevated levels of aluminum, steal, and tin.
I may be replacing the 1FZFE on my 97 in the near future. Either a “new” 1FZFE with current tranny or swapping out to “new” manual tranny at the same time.

Update:
Steering issue he returned. After replacing the front wheel bearings, new tires, and alignment it drove much better. However, over the course of a few weeks it progressively got worse again. It got to the point where something was obviously wrong and I didn’t want to continue doing...
Cruiserdan,
I saw in an old thread where you listed part numbers for replacing bushings on the rear upper and lower control arms and the panhard bar. I contacted my local Toyota parts dealer and was told that only one bushing is serviceable on the control arms. They also stated that if both...
Does anyone here know if here is a difference in the bushing sizes on the same upper/lower control arm and panhard bar?
The rear bushings on my 1997 LC are ready to be replaced. I contacted the local Toyota to see if I could order OEM bushings. They said that they only sell one bushing for each...
