    There was no leak or tick at the manifold gasket when replaced. Both had a good seal. I swapped cuz a local toyota pick n pull had some slightly better ones up for grabs.

    exactly. the second i touch something i assume that it is going to explode... even when i do it correctly.. classic minor momentary panic syndrome.

    @bigredmachine thanks you are totally right. The color match between the antisieze and the bracket had me convinced it was melting, but after inspecting the melting point of most metal parts, this would be essentially impossible... dumb start to my forum use... sorry about that lol

    Wow, please dont answer, I forgot that I put antiseaze on the bolts and it is squeezing out... nothing is melting.

Can the converter retainer on the exhaust system melt? My 1997 has a pretty rusty exhaust system, and I replaced the gasket, bolts, nuts...
