As an insight, Chris and I can lift the back of the Hilux. I only pulled it about 12 miles as a test. It was pretty well behaved. Settled after bumps nicely. Decent cross wind yesterday, but nothing wild. There is a lot of weight on the ball currently. The pickup has a pretty good squat...

Backed it into the ditch, drove the Hilux on. Took a minute to find the right ditch though. I'm going to have a rollback meet me in Montrose to get it off. The way home it'll be just the pickup on the trailer. The 40 is staying in Colorado for a bit. I wanted to load it with the...

    Engine replacement

I like my Cummins R2.8. If I were to do it again, I'd be interested in the Cummins B3.3. All mechanical injection. Also an industrial engine, so it will be tough All of the quirks that I don't like about the R2.8 are computer related. I think a 1FZ would be a good match as well...

The Clustertruck lives. Total weight. 2 guys, a dog, ¼ tank of fuel. I'm betting we add another half ton of gear and crap. Pickup weight Trailer weight I think the pickup weighs 6500# with me in it. I ordered a new one and it shipped. Allegedly. So I'm curious how it...

    Engine replacement

Gearing is gearing. Every engine will turn the same rpm without a gearing change. The H55 overdrive isn't much. I think there is a 400rpm difference between 4th and 5th. Even with 3.70 gears and a H55, I'm turning 2400rpm at 70mph

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

It'll sink a bit. Probably not an inch, but ½" for sure. Flares are a bit of a sin in my book, but not my vehicle

I'm gonna day it won't work. I'm all for trying of we've got enough winches. Might take a week too. 😆 I'll just be dropping n off of 70 at Grand Junction. There's a really pretty road at Glenwood Springs that I took a couple of years ago with the trailer. I was empty though...

    76 FJ40 wheel/tire question

I also think they are American Racing wheels. I have a set that also came on my 76. If you like them, find a place to have them powdercoated before putting new tires on. I had 5 wheels for my 80 series powdercoated recently, it was $400 to have them blasted and painted. Which iv thought was...

Close. The "Karl is too cheap and doesn't want a longer trailer" extendo kit.

    My TLC experience

Made some really good progress on the rear speaker enclosures this weekend. I dislike paint work. I'm pretty patient, but painting is a skill that requires some talent too. I'm lacking in the skill department. 😆 They look alright. I'll have to let them cure all the way and paint the bottom...

Oh. Not me. I wouldn't be able to make something like that. One of these days I'll get a 3D printer and that stuff would be easy enough to do

    Holy hell…43 year old bushings

Cut whatever is in the way that isn't being replaced. Which is pretty much everything but the mounts. I remember what I did. I cut the pin off both sides, inside if the frame mount. You're just done at that point. You're fighting the spring pack, the shackle, and two mounting points...
