Hey guys - finally went ahead a did a “rebuild” on my 2f carb. The float valve was sticking amongst other things. I put carb back on and similar symptoms - idle fuel pulling through Venturi. I read in the forum to blow out the idle circuit, likely blocked (with compressed air and carb cleaner)...
Just filled her up. Gas stopped 4 gallons shy of 23.8 with 242 miles. I’m thinking flat E is 3.8 gallons left. So I’m thinking 250 miles on 19.8 gallons or 12.5mpg on 31 BFG ATs. 65% hwy/35% city. So I guess actual is higher?
Big improvement from 7mpg by changing the AFM with no codes.
I changed my AFM and getting better distance! May change out some other parts. Before I attack injectors….
What’s everyones range on a standard FJ62 with 3FE Fuel tank? 23.8 gallons.
Thanks!
I may have a similar issue. running rich. No codes. getting like 7mpg. Sooty plugs but no black exhaust. When she’s on the highway she’s responsive. Changed fuel filter, ran fuel pressure changed fpr, changed O2. Tested air flow except for air temp and the one test that required produced a wave...
Case closed here. Fuel pressure tested OK per FSM. Leaving the new aftermarket FPR in unless suggested otherwise. Turns out the fuel pressure “loan a tool” had some issues. Still have that fluctuating RPM in idle at operating temp. but will tackle that vacuum leak with a smoker another day. Any...
Installed new Delphi aftermarket FPR. No change and I may install the OEM denso back in. Going to wait for the new OEM fuel filter that may just junked up at the right time. I pray the new fuel pump is not crapping out.
The engine runs, but I would like fuel delivery to be at specs for...
FSM Indicates 33-37 at idle vacuum reconnected which is what I’m now getting - 37 psi. However, I’m now getting subpar performance with the diagnostic jump and have since ordered an oem fuel filter. The intank fuel pump is new (but aftermarket kit). The roughish idle is something else? But...
There is vacuum source at the FPR (if I recall ~17) and applying additional vacuum (17+ with a pump) at the FPR does NOT cause FPR reading (now 26 psi) to change.
The FPR does hold vacuum with pump.
I just find it odd that diagnostic jump would first test 46psi fuel. Now I’m getting 26 psi fuel...
I’ve got a Delphi aftermarket FPR. I read the MR2 FPR will fit too. Should have some free time later this week to install. Hope the aftermarket FPR is reliable.
That’s what I was thinking. I figured the EFI water temp sensor or an O2 sensor would trip a CEL code. I’m thinking this testing “exercised” the regulator and is now the regulator is really out of spec. Thanks.
Darn - Now after testing again. The fuel pressure is lacking across the board. 26psi. Tried multiple times with 2 different gauges. Faulty fuel pressure regulator? Or fuel filter??
Trying to diagnose a running rich condition, rough idle with no codes; I suspect faulty fuel pressure regulator. I’m getting the following readings. Thoughts?
1) Diagnostic port short - 46psi (37-46psi)
2) Idling, vacuum removed - 46psi (37-46psi)
3) Idling, Vacuum reconnected - 47 psi...
Reviving thread. Any luck with resolving this?
My rpm fluctuates when warm (550-750) at times, only in idle. Slightly rough. No codes Getting better though, truck sat for a few with prior owner. A Mechanic Changed filter (reportedly) & fuel pump tank redo prior to running. I changed Plugs...
Idle is rough 550-750 once it gets to temperature. no more codes. But doing some finer tuning. Cleaning throttle body, new plugs, rotor, cap, will get wires & will time. Installed New fuel pump. New TPS (was sticking) and calibrated. Air intake looks good??? Waiting on throttle body gasket...
the alternator belt has its own tensioner. It’s alternator (slides along bracket) via tension bolt & bracket (fixed), the crank pulley which is fixed, the fan pulley which is fixed. I’ll be measuring pulleys tomorrow but all look OEM. The belt is OEM. I’m just perplexed.
I may get smaller...
Please tell me what belts you got. See pics.
Alternator belt deflection is easily 1”+
Regardless stocking stuffer is new oem belts. I have no idea on age of these but they look solid.
