So I finally got to look in the pan. The fluid is dark but doesn’t smell burnt. There are some metal pieces like fine glitter in the fluid. Looks like no chunks of clutch. I may just go with the nomad valve body and a complete fluid exchange unless someone thinks my video and pics suggest...
Thanks, I’ll look for that post. The nomad looks nice, but a bit much for me. I wouldn’t mind gaining a new skill. Do you think anything outside the valve body could cause those issues? If I dropped serious coin I’d just get a 4l60e or 700r4 to match the engine and get a new adapter for the t...
I should also add that when I manually shift to 2nd, it holds the gear and doesn’t slip. That leads me to believe the clutches are ok. Also, 3rd, 4th, and reverse all work perfectly including lock up. I have not pulled the pan yet either.
Hello! I’ve got a few minor issues with my 91s transmission. It does have an early vortec swap if that matters.
My issues are:
1. Shift flare from 2-3
2. Misses downshift to 2nd (just revs)
3. Seems like a slowish shift from 1-2
4. Manual shifting 1-2 leaves at least 5 second delay
5. Manual...
Thanks again. This helped. Turns out the L terminal resistance on the GM alternator is too high to trigger the lamp relay so I bypassed and jumped pins 2 and 4 of the relay harness and the alternator and charge lamp work as intended.
You’re right. I realized after that I only waited a day. Thank you.
I've owned this 80 for a few months and have only driven it 3 miles. Anxious to get it going!
Does anybody have the alternator/charging diagram for a 91/92 (I think they’re the same)? I found one from a later model but mine has the charging lamp relay so it’s slightly different.
My 80 has an early vortec swap and they did an interesting job adapting the Toyota alternator to the GM...
Never! I love my Canyonero and I find it a great vehicle that I’ve grown quite attached to. I’ve had it 15 years now and it’s taken the fam to some awesome places. Only way it gets replaced is if it gets taken.
I’ll get some tomorrow. It’s still sitting at the coworkers house. I’ll attach a not...
Hello from WA! I just bought a gold 91 with center lock only, under 200k,with an early vortec v8 swap. I got it cheap from a coworker because it needs some work. I’m new to the LCs, but not new to wrenching and wheeling. I’m sad because I bought this vehicle to flip as I need the money, but I...
