    brake squeal solutions?

The grinding noise almost sounded like a high pitch pump coming from the right front and could only hear it at low speed. Pardon the sound effects, but it sounded like zzzpt, zzzpt, zzzpt. Told the mech the same thing and he just smiled. I had replaced the oil, transmission fluid, brake...

    brake squeal solutions?

Had the same issue on my '99. Took it to Brake Masters and was told glazing was the problem. I had 95% left on the pads. I developed a sort of grinding noise around the right front and took the LC back to the same place. Was told the same thing, glazing. I ask the manager to take a ride...

    New Member - Aloha!

I have noticed that the brakes get stronger as you slow to almost a stop too. I just thought it might be the newer brakes that were replaced and it was something that would either go away or I would have to learn to live with it. I had no idea it was something common. I am used to it now so no...

Yet Another Story on the "Key"

I guess I was lucky the PO (my brother-in-law) had the second broken key with the remote (and obvious transponder) electronics. It worked before I bought the shell and blank on Ebay. The broken part was the plastic shell. You could not turn the key in the ignition without it trying to twist...

Yet Another Story on the "Key"

Yes, I was pleased with the key. I love saving money when I can. The key even had the Toyota badging on it. It made me nervous with only one key. While I traveled, the wife was using the LC because of the snow after the first of the year. We can't get the Lexus out of the garage when it...

Yet Another Story on the "Key"

Excellent point. I may look into after my business trip to Tampa. I would really like to get the engine detailed. I always think a clean <inject any word here> is a happy <.....>. I know it would make me feel better.

Yet Another Story on the "Key"

Thanks, I think it looks pretty good for the mileage. It does have a few parking lot blemishes, but body is still in good shape. Only thing that bugs me is the dirty engine compartment. I want to power wash it, but don't want to take the chance of getting the electronics water logged. I know...

Yet Another Story on the "Key"

It has been awhile since I posted, so Hello again, When I purchased my '99 TLC from my brother-in-law, he only had one key. He said he had another one but it was broken and may have tossed it. He promised to look for it and eventually found the key. It was a master just like the one good one I...

Who has the most miles on their 100 with the fewest problems?

'99 LC with 124K on it. Just bought it from brother-in-law. He did the 90K service at 100K miles. He also did new brakes and WP at the same time. Owned it only for a month now and the vehicle is still like new. Since I have owned it, I replace a fog light bulb, all three wipers, oil change...

Antenna Mast Replacement - How To

Ordered a replacement antenna on ebay. Installed it in a matter of minutes and worked like a champ. Replacing antenna was the easiest job I ever did on a vehicle. Removing the antenna motor was rather simple, but took a little time. I highly recommend the procedure outlined above and if you...

Antenna Mast Replacement - How To

I agree with BillWms01. It does appear to have plenty of room. I did not discover this until after I had the moter apart. Mine broke about four inches below the actual antenna. Still, in all, disassembly of the motor was no big deal. I am still waiting for the replacement.

Antenna Mast Replacement - How To

Greetings All, I had just read this thread last week and thought about how I could have saved money on the old '95 GS300 we had when the antenna no longer functioned. Well, this week was cold in Arizona. I took the new (to me) '99 LC to get the oil changed. Upon completion, thought I would...

    New Kid in AZ

Agreed, most are pimped, not that there is anything wrong with that. Mine was stock and fairly comfy. In less than a year, things started falling off, rattle and such. Even had to have it towed twice because it would not start. Something to do with the transmission lock out. I would hate to...

Thanks for the welcome. I have already learned a bunch. I didn't even know the UZJ100 was the official designation of the Land Cruiser. Past 4x4's were a Grand Cherokee Ltd, a Wrangler, and a H2 Hummer, all of which spent plenty of time in the desert. I really enjoy my ATV in the National...

    New Kid in AZ

Just wanted to do a quick intro. Bought the brother-in-law's '99 Land Cruiser today. Has 123K on it and is in great shape. All maintenance work is up to date, including the timing belt at 100K. I look forward to visiting here and learning as much as I can from you veterns. Special thanks to...
