I’ll probably/hopefully be dead in 43 years and the next owner will be posting this same thread on mud because I’m the A-Hole who put OEM back on. Good luck generation double C. Knowing this in death makes me feel like a super villain.
Opened a box with three identical #2 main bearings. Is this a good or bad omen? I once got a fortune cookie with no fortune; immediately called my wife to say I love her and it’s unlikely I will make it home.
I feel your pain. If you’re still working on this then I think the springs are fighting you. The red circled part is at an angle because of the spring attachment and that’s adding pressure to that upper bushing. If you cut the yellow circled area the the spring will drop and you should be able...
I had the same issue. Tried almost everything including drilling out the rubber, sawsall was worthless. Finally broke out the 6” cutoff wheel on the angle grinder and that did the trick. Don’t mess around, they won’t be reusable because the pins will have rotted and expanded. Use a cut off wheel...
I agree with Mark. Highest wear points are cam, then lifters IMO. It’s a half day and easy job to pull the valve cover and run it to check for lubrication and adjustment. Then pull the side cover, remove the valve rocker, pushrods and then pull the lifters to inspect those. You can also measure...
I’m very confused as to why the body mount locations are an issue for these aftermarket tubs. Seems like a simple jig would solve this. Not to mention all the little details like the captive nut locations. I understand those little details require a lot of skilled labor but it seems odd to...
The CCOT hell for stout front bumper is on sale for $300. Dirt cheap IMO.
The rear is another matter. Thinner metal and lack of support back there for towing. Plenty of easy options for reinforcement if you have a little welding skill.
Closing the loop. Found a guy on eBay that had some for sale and was willing to weigh them. $70 each + shipping/tax. Showed up today and he was honest about the weight. Condition seems fine but they will be tweaked as necessary.
Now back to body work :bang:
Good on you. Wish I had one. Bought a 2019 4Runner TRD new and was looking at the Heritage Edition 200 series on the dealer lot. They wanted $5k over MSRP so I balked at it and went with the 4Runner. Nothing wrong with the 4Runner but I shoulda bought that 200. Hang on to it
Update: I called SOR, they have rods for sale at $81 each but refused to weigh them for me. The response was I just need to buy them and see what you get. I was about to offer to buy them a scale and ship it to them as a ‘gift with purchase’ in reverse but didn’t want to come off condescending...
