Hope all the LC bro's are well. My '98 crapped out on the road. Grinding sound and would not move. This happened to me in 2015 and mechanic said back then just engage the front axle and it'll get you home - which I did. Looking back at invoice from dealer for fix - looks like the flange, snap...
Update -
I took some time and although the window motor looks like it is riveted to the window regulator - they are actually screws. Learning for me to look harder...
I took advise from previous posts and from LC bretheren - cleaned window motor (thanks again for link showing how to break...
I'm going to try and work with what I have for now. Thanks for the offer though. Like the pics show - this motor is riveted on the regulator so going with just the motor would be a major undertaking to grind off rivets then remount a new motor, etc.
Thanks for responding - mine gets power just really slow / sluggish- like all other windows except drivers side (but it is getting slow too). Love the '98 but she's getting old - like owner. The 350k miles and still hums.....
Thanks a lot! Just scrolled through the thread you sent. Not sure I can get cover off motor - there is one screw blocked by the regulator mechanism and motor is riveted to regulator vs bolted on. Messed up design on these rear windows. Thanks again
Thanks Saucebox for that input on the switch. The saga continues with the drivers side rear window motor/regulator - can't believe this whole part (like the front windows) aren't sold together as 1 part. Can't find anywhere...
No takers on rear window motor question? I am trying to tap technician knowledge on website toyotaparts.com to see if their tech can answer my question: Do I need to grind the rivets off of the window regulator and somehow bolt a new motor on? Everywhere I looked online the window regulator and...
Replacing door lock motors and window regulator / motor on my '98. The motor is riveted to the regulator mechanism except for 3 screws for motor cover. Does anyone know - do I need to purchase new motor / regulator assembly together or is there a way to attach just a new motor. Suckers are...
Mine shattered yesterday - anyone know where I can get one? Nobody seems to carry these any longer...tried all over classified, etc... if not - any "caps" I can put over brackets? Open to suggestions.
Thanks
For years I have read about attempts to identify and solve what causes the "thunk" on LC's when accelerating from a stop. Earlier this week I had the CV axle and cone replaced on the drivers side of my '98 and.... no more "thunk". I tried all kinds of recommendations to stop the proverbial...
