80 series washer bottle relocate kit

SOLD I have a Slee brand windshield washer botter relocate kit for anyone that wants to add dual batteries. It has all the bracketry and bolts, but does not have the wiring harness extension or zip ties. Slee wants $47, which isn't a bad price, so I will let this go for $20 plus shipping...

I like the way it turned out but the drawback is that there is very little room for the exhaust or fuel tank and the transmission and transfer case are up in the cab.

Once the body was bolted on the front clip had to be aligned and bolted down. As you all know (or should) the fj40 front clip bolts on with a center cast iron hinge at the base of the bib. The fenders mount to the frame to stabilize the rest of the front sheetmetal. I don't have fenders yet...

Gas tank hole got filled - but this will come back out later and be replaced with a more sturdy solution. And a shot of the frame/body from the side.

body mounts You saw the 6 body mounts earlier. These were welded to the frame under the ribs that cross the fj40 tub. The remaining body mounts for the tub are the 4 bolts across the rear, into the frame/rear bumper. My rear bumper/frame crossmember is a 3/16 thick 2x4 rectangle tube. I...

I hope this will end up much lighter, at least much less top-heavy than my 80 with Js and 35s. My wife doesn't mind driving the 80 now, so I think I am ok with that as a starting point. I don't want this thing lifted too much, just need to fill the fenders...

Thanks for all the support Gary - Your 45 build was what convinced me to use the 80 frame. If you had detailed the amount of grinding wheels, cut off wheels, and sanding discs you burned through I may have had second thoughts.

thanks Well the bikes are parked until my knee surgery is all healed up. I figured I would spend some time working on the cruiser instead.

Thanks. My goal is to eventually replace my daily driver/camping rig 80 series. That means road-friendly, but tough enough to handle Pritchett Canyon, Rubicon, etc. Do you think 39.5 tires would be too small?

I don't want to spoil the next few installments, but the hood does fit and the radiator will be in front of the engine, but it took quite a bit of grinding and welding to get there... I will have to build front fenders from tube, so they can be as wide as I want. I am not really sure what to...

    old school 80 series

Each side took about 2 days between cutting to fit and spot welding a 1/4 inch at a time. once it was welded together it took another day of grinding to make it flat again. Probably 5 weekends between the 2 sides to get everthing lined up an welded and then ground back down to flat. I am...

A friend of mine donated the top tub rails from a fj40 he was contributing to his sweet FJ45 project. Thanks friel01. Tim

    old school 80 series

The fj40 tub i had already had cut fenders, so I had to rebuild the front of the fenders if I wanted it to look something close to stock. So I decided to cut the rear of the fenders to fit the tires and start over with the front section of the fenders. I had a friend bend up a section of 18...

The next step was to split the fj40 body and extend it 19 inches. It seemed to be best to cut the spot weld in the center of the fj40, just behind the door pillar so I would have a flat, consistent place to weld the middle pieces to when I tried to put it back together. Somewhere in this...

    old school 80 series

Ok, so i had this fj40 body and bought a 94 80 series for the locking axles. Then started thinking that the motor and trans only has 200K on it - should be good for another couple hundred K, but the FZJ80 drivetrain in a fj40 frame only leaves room for an 11 inch rear driveshaft... So what...

Anyone want locked 5:29's in thier 80? I want to go backwards, trade?

I have a 94 with factory elockers and factory 4.10s. The 5.29s would probably help with the 39.5's going on it soon. We would have to swap the entire rear axle, only the front 3rd member. Do you want a rear elocker? I am in arizona. Tim

Cutting my Truck in half, any advice

I split mine at the seam and stretched by 19 inches (enough to fit a FZJ 80 chassis). I drilled out the spot welds with a spot weld cutter - great invention, by the way. I highly recommend one. You only have 4 welds to cut, 2 on each side, top rail and underneath where the side panel...

    missing on cylinder 6

I had the same problem - # 6 not firing causing low idle, tremedous engine shaking at certain RPM, lean engine code. I replaced plugs - to no effect. I had a set in another 1FZFE engine, so I had those injectors cleaned and flow checked at a local EFI shop. Then pulled upper intake and pulled...
