Thanks! As much as possible. Last week in the snow. Looking forward to using the winch to drag some ponderosa stumps out in the Spring.

Red settled in Colorado. 3 days on the road got us there without incident, in time for the aspens to show some color.

    Ohio Red 1978 FJ40

Ohio Red on the way to becoming another Colorado Red. I haven't posted in a while - a lot going on and less time for work on this truck. Moving out of a big old house after 11 years into an apartment in Chicago, which is no home for a 40. Red will instead join all of my accumulated tools et...

    Builds The Architect's '77 FJ40

Rick- that's a nice solution to the vapor separator. Curious to see how it will work without "chambers" to allow the vapor to collect and condensate to drain.

    Builds Project Pikachu: 1977 FJ40

Thanks! Runs great here but at 600 ft MSL not too much of a challenge. Will try the timing advance. Property is about 8800

Love those shots. Ohio Red is about to make the trek out to CO to its new home in the Uncompaghre. Now I just need to figure out how to tune for the altitude, or get the sniper in...

    Builds '78 Refreshtoration, what next?

Looking good man! TRE's on my agenda this weekend if I manage to get the clothes dryer pulled out and fixed after work...

    Cold weather gauge gremlins

Thanks guys. The voltage reg makes the most sense given this only seems to depend on the cabin heat. If I leave the heat off they stay at zero even with a very warm engine. Turn signal remains a mystery. Given the weather is starting to warm I may not chase it too hard - on the future...

    Builds '78 Refreshtoration, what next?

I picked up a toe alignment tool from TMR Customs suggested by @wngrog Toe alignment tool Steering linkage just arrived from Cruiserteq. Project for next weekend so will let you know how it turns out.

    Cold weather gauge gremlins

With the single digit temps we have been having, I've noticed a new electrical phenomenon. After sitting all day at less than 20 degrees, the truck starts on the first turn with full choke, the temp and ammeter work, but the oil pressure and gas gauge sit at zero. When the engine warms, temp...

    Builds The Iron Yak

Great work! I like the install with the power surge and keeping the stock fuel pump. Makes it straightforward to switch back to the carb in the future if you wanted to. Did you have to modify the gas pedal for this setup?

Cool! Put up some pics when you get a chance. I have never seen the factory ones.

I believe these were a factory option, though mine came BTBprod.com. link Good luck with your '78. I've learned a ton from the folks on here.

Couple of other projects while the top was off. (yeah some of this is out of order. It's been a while. Life intrudes on the 40 rather than the reverse) My Wipers were parking in the middle of the windshield, which drove me crazy. I read every thread I could find about fixing this problem...

On to the Amby Door hinges. I don't think I have seen a full writeup on changing the pins, though I may have missed it. Unlike the front door and windshield hinges, these don't just drive out. I ended up using a dremel with a small cutoff wheel to grind down the underside heads, and then...

    Ohio Red 1978 FJ40

I've had a set of spare tire carrier greaseable pins from @Racer65 sitting on the shelf for a while. Continuing with "Operation Rattlestop," I wanted to get these in as well as the amby door stainless pins from @SMG. Neither turned out to be a one day job. I don't have a hydraulic press (on...

Much appreciated. And thanks for the reminder. On the agenda for this weekend and something I should have done long ago.

Hard to believe it's been months since the warm spring day the top came off. Several projects in the interim but I've been poor about posting so brief recap. Fabbed up a bracket to mount the VCV with what might be an FJ60 Spring clip. For some reason my tub has captive nuts for the jack...
