Thanks, I already have a set of LC torsion bars on hand so zero dollars (ex labor cost) either way. Would reindexing or swapping to LC bars result in a better ride? Is there an argument that AHC bars with higher tension would result in a less optimal ride than beefier LC bars with lower tension?
My '06 LX has a front bull bar (no winch), sliders and drawer system in the back. I don't usually pack heavy and it's typically two adults and a dog in the back. Suspension is AHC with King KTRS-79 coils and AHC torsion bars. I checked my AHC pressures yesterday and the back was 5.7 MPa (well...
Any real world experience on best springs for a 100 series with a front steel bumper, sliders and drawer system (with some tools). I don't usually carry passengers in the back and this is a semi-daily so looking for something that's not going to compromise comfort too much. Would OME 2860 work...
I'm trying to change the body mount behind my driver wheel that's shot. I need to loosen up all the body mounts on the car. Anyone how to access the second from the rear body mount (#6 below)? All the other ones are accessible but I'm stuck on this one.
Providing an update on this. I ended up replacing the driver side CV joint but that didn't solve the issue (although car seems to drive smoother minus the pops/clicks). I took the car to a reputable indy (not LC specialist but father and son team who are both Japanese). They were able to...
Sandstorm from the FJ trail teams could work, especially with the black bits you are adding. Lighter than quicksand and would work with your interior. If you had gray interior I would do cement gray or lunar rock.
All helpful insights. For some history, both CVs were rebooted 2 years ago then passenger side CV gave out shortly after and was changed out for OE. I have swapped out for new sway bar links and bushing, rebooted passenger side upper ball joint (still felt good when this was done) and regreased...
I'm getting intermittent pop/click sounds coming from underneath the driver seat/footwell when turning the wheel (particularly going over uneven surface). I had initially thought it was due to worn steering rack bushings after seeing they were pretty worn. I just replaced the bushings but that...
Thanks, I managed to get the bottom passenger sleeve out. For the top sleeve, I'm trying to work it out from underneath inside the bushing bracket. I'm noticing that the sleeve crumples in the area of impact when I use the air chisel rather than pushing the entire sleeve upward (see pic)...
So my steering rack bushings are shot. In my attempt to replace the old bushings, I'm stuck trying to remove the metal sleeves (got the inner rubber bushing out). I have tried cold chisel and air chisel together with PB blaster and even put a small hole in the old sleeve (see picture). The...
I bought these a few months ago for my 100 series but just realized these are for 1998-2005, mine is a 2006. Willing to let both go for $80 shipped in CONUS, brand new in box.
Mine has a button there already, I forgot what it is off the top of my head but there's something there for the 06. The toggle switch in the square doesn't look too bad in this pic, almost OE. Thanks for the pic
If two can fit flush in that square space that would be great but I doubt it (smalller than 2x2in). Based on the replies, seems like the best fit is buying the locker switch and use that for light control but I would feel like a poser doing so haha. Guess I'll be going down the drilling route...
