Lots of threads, but I can’t seem to find one that matches what I’ve got in the details.
Ive had the FJ for two years (1992.) No starting issues under any conditions. Then, here it is. I go out to start - cranks fine/normal but no start. CEL on with switch on. Obviously this is a cold start...
Gotta redo wheel bearings on one side, 92 FJ80. Rock auto only has Timken, no Koyo. Trying to track down the Koyo part number (and ideas for a source? Cruiser outfitters is out of stock. Only Timken.)
Luckily, the shift lock is an almost unnoticeable fix to the shifter stuck in park. After reading here, sounds like it’s a solenoid issue (that is no longer available) as all lights function normally.
Not interested in rewiring non OEM parts to fabricate something that works - *unless* - this...
I consider myself pretty mechanically inclined. Especially with the FSM and the in depth information available on a 92 FJ80.
But, I give up. Did the knuckle job. New birfs and of course all normal replacement parts per the FSM and with good ol OTRAMM’s video to assist. The knuckles are bone...
The knuckle job is complete, I’ve put about 25 miles on it. Searches here turn up some almost but not quite related threads (along with some gnarly looking stuff failure photos.)
The truck tracked and steered like new before work, and now has a distinct pull to the right. Nothing stood out on...
After a more adventurous than desired knuckle rebuild job (one side still pending) I may be doing it over again. It went back together, but it’s driving me crazy trying to figure out why it was different. Just doesn’t seem right.
All was well until final reassembly and pulling the axle via...
I’ve been collecting my parts/tool list, feeling pretty confident between OTRAMM and 6th Gear Garage’s YouTube vids, and then got under to take a good luck. Yikes.
The odd thing is that these look like this. Then I drained the front diff to swap fluid and feared the worst. Nope. Oil was...
As a recent member of the 3FE AFM seppuku club, the search is on for a discontinued part. I’ve posted in the classifieds to see if one happens to be available, so that’s my first choice. I’ve read some that folks have had luck with a specific era Camry AFM, which I can’t decide if I prefer as...
I committed AFM suicide via “the screws” and need another. Hoping for a used OEM part at a reasonable price before having mine refurbed. Let me know whatcha got.
Well, technically step two I suppose, but since step one was changing the oil and checking the transmission fluid (surprisingly good) I wouldn’t count that as anything beyond normal maintenance.
I got my Wits End tune up kit and was stoked. Finished up last night with the new plugs, wires...
Okay folks, lots of reading and some good discussion, just no clarity on a part number issue. Best I can tell from the land of search, the smooth belts are the true OEM’s and what I’m looking for - at least for 80 series‘ in general. I’m assuming the same is true for the 3FE, although I could...
I’d normally search for a couple of days first, but consider there was only one way to take this photo...well, you know.
I’ve checked the reference least a dozen times. Had my wife read it as a backup.
How is this the correct filter?! Black is a Mobil 1 replacement, white one is just removed...
Okay, I grabbed some tires before the dry rotted ones collapsed and I couldn’t even take it to get registered. Sweet. Next, wait on the FSM and in the meantime, USE THE SEARCH!
Great info, I have about 30 threads bookmarked for all of my grand baseline plans. May as well start peeking around...
Okay, I already checked in on the 3FE registry, but she was actually delivered today. She’s a bit more of a project than I initially thought, but no matter. Still a great deal to me and I’ve just always wanted one.
The idea is not to overland, not to rock crawl (there are no rocks in Florida -...
