    The truck made it to the top of the mountain but my immediate thought was a blown head gasket. I started by removing the front grill and taking out the old radiator and the fan clutch. I didn't like what I saw. In addition to the symptoms of a blown head gasket, the engine was also caked in grease.

    I may have found the culprit. After removing the upper plenum, I found that I had earlier not attached a VSV. But I have no idea where it might belong since I already have two VSVs attached. The photo shows the upper plenum with the additional VSV in my hand.

    Thank you - honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. I foolishly rushed through putting back together the upper plenum. I'll re-do that part and report back. Greatly appreciate it.

    The distributor rotor was set facing the first spark plug at the 1pm position with the engine at top dead center. I have seen others place it toward the 11am position. Should I adjust it?
