2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

How long is your warranty good for? The only place that has any remans now is LexusPartsNow.com, and they only offer the factory 12 month coverage. I probably would've sprung for the reman if they offered an extended policy. I figure at 1/3 the cost though, the used 70k mile transmission is...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Hey guys, sorry for the radio silence; I haven't actually picked the car up yet haha. I ended up going with Oleg's transmission after having a separate shop check it out. I had the dealer install it since their estimate was in line with others, and they gave me a loaner which is a big deal...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Evening, So here's today's update if anyone's interested. I'm currently contemplating the following options. Any insight is welcome, as always. Option 1: OEM Remanufactured 2000 LX 470 Transmission (35010-60840-84) LexusPartsNow.com has a LX 470 transmission in stock here for $2,660. This is...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Ha, that'd be awesome. I'd prefer not to have rocks in my new transmission though, say I stick with them... I've always left OD on since I've never towed anything, and it was on when the failure happened. I was going up a hill on the highway when it occurred, and the engine redlined to 5.5k as...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

So they just pulled the inspection plate, and the flex plate seems to be intact, which unfortunately means it is the transmission... I have a case open with Toyota Corporate to see if any goodwill policies can apply since it's still under 60k miles, but we'll see. They're looking to put in a...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

The former; she's been on a trickle charger in my parents' garage for the majority of her life. Dealer maintained, never before taken off paved roads.

Same here, but I still love her. Appreciate it! I'll absolutely be doing this first thing in the morning – thank you again for all your time and insight earlier!

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Yeah, that's what I figured... Fingers crossed it could still perhaps be a flexplate issue though. Oh, absolutely, given the state of the interior, exterior, and other internals. If it does turn out to be the transmission, which is seeming more and more likely, I'm still deciding if I should go...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles – Transmission Shop Recommendations?

Hi Guys, I posted a couple days ago about my 2000 LC transmission possibly taking a dump at 50k miles and someone recommended I ask here... Does anyone know a trustworthy transmission shop? I'm currently in Trinidad, CO, but am willing to get towed to get away from this predatory dealer...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

I thought so too, but the mechanic here said a true low level would be at the very bottom of the stick as the levels would rise if I were able to cycle through the gears and warm them up. It doesn't smell burnt.

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Afternoon, So I'm currently at the dealer and can confirm the truck does not drive even when the CDL is locked. I also confirmed the transmission fluid seems to be at a decent level and in a decent condition. Here's a video of the sound it's making. Note the vehicle is in park... Thank you...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

I'll certainly be taking a video tomorrow when I can access the vehicle. Thank you! No idea, but you guys have given me hope that it could be something else. I've never taken her in water deeper than 6" or so, but I suppose water could have gotten in somehow. I don't see how I'd kill the...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Good call on the trip interruption insurance; I'll see what my policy offers. I'll check the drive flanges and try driving with the CDL locked when I can access the truck on Monday. Thank you for the info!

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

So I'm looking at a diagram of where the flexplate is located, and it does seem to be in the area where the sound originates from. The sound comes from more of the middle of the car, say in between and a little behind the front two wheels, versus either the driver's or passenger's side, as I...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

I'd consider myself handy in general, but I don't have any experience with autos. I completely understood this though – thank you! One thing though... the rattling/grinding is apparent even when the vehicle is in park. I imagine this would eliminate this as a potential culprit?

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

No clue... I just got a call from them explaining it'll be 5k to fix. I honestly have no idea what a drive flange is, but it's apparent I need to study up tonight. Appreciate the other resources! I'll test on Monday when they open and follow up. I'll find out how to do that, do that, and...

2000 LC Transmission Failure at 50k (50,381) Miles

Appreciate the info! I'll give it a shot when they open on Monday. That did come up in my research, but I wanted to see what the dealer said before potentially messing anything else up further.
