Here are some answers that I found while unfreezing the transfer case shifter. FYI, driving a 2007 100 series, US version. I did drill holes in the center console area to access the two bolts attaching the retainer to the top of the transfer case. I also notched out a bit the circular opening...
Look on Craigslist. I found some really nice ones for the correct width but with larger circumference and just put them on and cut to length. Paid 75 but they are worth much more, they have the asphalt destroying cleats on the rungs. In Crestline and roads, paved, are all clear.
Toyota just called and said the parts are in that I will need and might need. If I have time this weekend I will drop the skid plates, lower the transfer case, remove the shifter assembly, free up the seized parts and replace, it is just finding the time.
Stuck in 4h. With shifter disconnected, case will shift. To remove, from what I am reading, is disconnect shift lever...from shift lever or from transfer case shifter? Remove two accessible bolts from the hole in the floor. Drill holes or lower and support the transfer case to remove other...
Problem: Can't get out of 4hi.
Removed the center console, lubricated all that I could see, nothing.
Remove the linkage from transfer case to shifter, case will go into 4hi and 4lo but the shifter is stuck. That was a big relief knowing that the case itself isn't the problem but I still need...
I was thinking the same thing. I did try the old coil wire and it wasn't firing correctly with the new alternator, so I am thinking that even though the happened so closely together, it was just coincidence. I spoke to a couple of "real" mechanics and they told me that they aren't related.
Got a 0302 code so I replaced a coil wire and spark plug, fixed it just fine and then the next day, voltage spike which caused ABS, traction control, battery and the brake lights all to come on--replaced alternator and running like a champ.
Debating on the hole in the floor vs on the ground on jack stands with the tire removed. I was first trying to access the bolt on my back in front of the rear dif, there was no way, things were tight. Was about to cut some holes, moved my storage, pulled the carpet back, but saw the pic with...
Last summer, maybe two years ago, I was driving the fam, 4 adults, from Orange County to Mammoth in July. It was like 110 and who knows how hot the asphalt was. Going up 395, we stopped at a rest stop before going into to Lone Pine. We all got back in and the engine turned over but stalled...
That is awesome. My wife and I were discussing how the local communities would suffer, really suffer, if the dunes were to be closed. 2019, OHV brought in 500 million! My wife is against camping that doesn't have a real bathroom so we got an Arbnb about 100 yards from the Pier street entrance...

Just spent a couple of days in Pismo with my bride and we spent some time out on the dunes. It was really fun and never got about 68 degrees! I haven't been out on the dunes for 25 years and there are a lot of fences out there! I was able to get around the entire open area with little issue...
Good day! Been a long time awol. I have six 18" wheels with used KO2's that are looking for a home. The wheels look ok but have memories of many trips. Also have a protective plastic mat for the third row. You name the price, just need to get rid of them asap.
