@r2m : I did look up a few Moab videos. Maybe patience and a good spotter is the key. I will venture out again this weekend. Deciding between Angeles & Bernandino forests...
btw, I'm planning to add Sliders, Skid Plates, Panhard bar correction kit. Looked up your build, pretty impressive. I'm...
@r2m @K Dub : I wasnt very nervous until I saw a tipped GX470 this weekend in Rohwer Flats towards the Bouquet Reservoir exit, the steepest section. Hopefully the driver/passenger had a safe exit. Maybe the driver took a very dangerous line or didnt have none to spot. But that scared me to hell.
@K Dub : Since this was my first time in Rohwer Flats(Rush Canyon off sierra entrance to the descent down the Bouquet Canyon, though i skipped the last treacherous part), I was in 4L all the time, DAC at few places. But while returning i switched to 4H -1st/2nd gear as advised by another...
@r2m : I finally managed to replace the passenger side catalytic converter. Now the engine lights are off and doing fine. Just did the Rohwer Flats OHV last weekend. It was fun. Certain sections were too steep, but luckily a fellow offroader helped me navigate. He was god-sent, else wouldnt had...
@jmanscotch : thats sad bro. something going wrong during the trip is painful
There are plently of aftermarket cats...but finding a California compliant is so painful. Havent come across any so far including Magnaflow
:( Looks like OEM is the only option. I asked one of the mechanics to weld a new one for me. He read some code on my hood and said its illegal for him to work this vehicle, and that it has to be taken only to an authorized dealer.
Folks: My Catalytic converter conked off. Need to replace it ASAP. Any aftermarket reccos? The OEM part is super expensive cost around ~$1500. Hence looking for California compliant aftermarket CAT. Any recommendations pls
@Arch Stanton : Thank you for enlightening me. I have had zero experience with fuel pumps and how it could go wrong. My GX is 10 yrs old, maybe it needed a replacement. Initially i thought of changing it myself. Went thru some DIY videos. But the thought of dropping the fuel tank, and fixing it...
@jmanscotch : Thanks buddy! Feels good to hear I paid a fair price. I have driven around 70 miles so far. The drive definitely feels better, especially the rear suspension. Early when i drive over bumps, i ccould feel the hit travel into my lower back - making it quite a harsh ride. With the...
My dealer is giving me choice of Icon 2.5 IR Front Coilovers Vs Fox 2.5. Any recos?
Also, my dealer wouldnt share BOM since the whole thing is offered as a package.
Folks: I'm ready to pimp up my girl... Wheels/Tires/2.5inch lift front and 2inch rear.
I'm planning to go with Icon setup. I got a quote from a SoCal dealer. Does this quote reasonable to you guys or should i explore some other brands - EMU/Toytec etc...
Icon 2.5 IR Front Coilovers and 2.0...
@r2m Oh boy..thats some heavy stuff. But you are right, ppl you stretch their days to make enough money usually dont have time for personal projects. They pay to get their service so that they could focus on making more money...Catch 22 situation.
@r2m @Donny Voodoo - Totally agree with you on. The satisfaction of DIY is definitely higher than throwing money at the problem. Also helps better to listen to your rig. Lemme do that. Acrad shared some great resources, I will be going thru it.
@Washingtontaco : Looks you have maintained your rig so well that it has lived thru to do 400,000+ miles. May be I should start learning the basics so I could DIY most of the things. I intend to do lift kits, suspension system, tires, bumper etc....I will plan it do by myself. I plan to buy a...
