    JT Outfitters Disc conversion

Finally went ahead and ordered the $999 full front/rear disc brake conversion kit from JT for my ‘63 FJ40. Even though it’s listed for 8/70 - 9/75, JT said it would work with some slight mods and if I didn’t have riveted rims (which I didn’t). Also bout the u-bracket for mounting the master to...

3B cylinder not firing at idle?

I had the compression checked and the mechanic found that the valves on cylinder #3 needed adjustment. After adjustment, compression was back up and engine ran smoothly at idle. Thanks for all the feedback!

3B cylinder not firing at idle?

All injectors were pulled, cleaned, and tested. This was the first thing I did. Yes, quite a bit of smoke at idle due to cylinder 3 not firing.

3B cylinder not firing at idle?

At idle it runs very rough, shakes, and quite a bit of smoke from the tailpipe. I can see that cylinder #3 doesn’t cause any change when I loosen the gas feed to the injector at idle speed but all the others do. Don’t notice much oil blow by at the vent tube. Thanks again for the suggestions

3B cylinder not firing at idle?

Haven't done that and will do, thanks. Isn't it strange though that I don't seem to feel any power loss and the engine purrs at 1200rpm and above - sorry I'm not a mechanic so this might be a stupid question.

3B cylinder not firing at idle?

Cylinder #3 on My 1979 B engine doesn't fire at idle but fires fine at about 1,200 rpms and up. No air in the system, injector was tested and is fine. My guess is that i'm just not getting enough fuel pressure at idle for this cylinder - not sure why only this cylinder is not getting it...

    1979 BJ40 Starter

Ok so I found the thread that talks about using a starter designed for a 2lt engine and swapping the nose cone. A couple of part numbers I found were 28100-54090 and 28100-54052. These look from the photo like they have the lugs in the right position, so I'll give that a try. Most websites...

    1979 BJ40 Starter

Hi fairly new to this site, but have tried to go through all the previous threads for this answer and can't find. I've got a 1979 BJ40 with the "B" engine, LHD, 12V. I'm looking for a starter for it. I've scoured the standard sites (Ebay, SOR, FJparts, Cool Cruisers, CruiserParts...

    Noob's '79 BJ40

Hi all, I'm new to the site so thought I'd post my first post showing my 1979 BJ40. Frame off resto about 6 years ago with quite a few mod, with the original B engine and drivetrain. Just got this a few weeks ago and added a TurboGlide, boost and EGT gauges, badges, and roof rack. Need to add...
