    Builds The "Red Rocket" Troopy

Well, I guess it sucks in air when sitting over night and the diesel runs back into the tank.. But the bleeding pump is not designed for that frequent use. I still suspect the pump to be the culprit for your current issue. As mom says: One might have fleas and louse. Try to disconnect the feed...

I guess, it is the pump itself, as the Sound immediately appears and is fully in sync with the pumping motion. You also apparently do not build any pressure at all. If it barely runs: Spray some starter fluid around the pump and move it. If the revs go up... there you go. Good Luck Ralf

    HZJ73 rear quarter window seals

Hi I did the job some time ago. Here is my writeup I advised to a buddy. Post in thread 'BJ73 FRP windows' BJ73 FRP windows - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/bj73-frp-windows.955186/post-14596956 For gluing the windows back in: Automotive sealant. Important: Use sealant, not bodywork glue, as...

Automatic switch source from 24v (alternator/batteries) to 12v (Aux battery)?

That should be fine. The Victrons can handle simultaneous charging and consuming. I would make the inbound line switched by a relay from ignition, to avoid any unwanted draw from the starter battery. I guess you have that already. Remember: The line feeding into the house battery has an active...

Automatic switch source from 24v (alternator/batteries) to 12v (Aux battery)?

Hi In a decent battery management system, charging and consuming at the same time is not a problem. It happens in virtually any all-12V Recreational Vehicle (RV) or boat. In advanced setups, e.g. using Li- or AGM- batteries (probably even with a modern, load balanced alternator) a proper battery...

Automatic switch source from 24v (alternator/batteries) to 12v (Aux battery)?

Hi Could be done by an alternating relais (4Pin). ^^. What would be the benefit of having 24V on the auxiliaries when driving? I have my house battery being charged when driving (battery management system DC/DC step-down) and powering the auxiliaries permanently from the house battery. I...

Replacement for 8724090K00 Heater Valve BJ7x

Hi My heater valve is leaking. I guess the outlet tube has a hole corrodet into it. The original 8740-99K00 is discontinued. Does anybody know of a replacement that would work? Best Regards Ralf

Not necessarily. Take your buddy offroad to get his rig appropriately muddy 😅

    Fluid recommendations KZJ78 1KZ

If it is an old rig with a manual gearbox: Go GL4 for the gearbox. The additives in modern GL5 would corrode the nonferrous metal components that might be present in older gearbox designs. 15W for the engine might be a bit thick at cold temps. Its good to about -0°C. For colder temps: Go 10W...

    BJ73 interior restore

Mike Sanders and FluidFilm Gel BN are about the same consistency. Both don't cure. You can't get either of it into cavities without heating, spraying, messing around. For hinges, bolts, body parts (not exposed) Gel BN is great 👍

    BJ73 interior restore

That's also almost a religious question. There are multiple products out there. State if the art for internal cavities are products with penetrating capabilities, combined with the abilityto stick to even surfaces. Wax, even when heated, doesn't do that. Greasy products, e.g. FluidFilm or...

    Builds The "Red Rocket" Troopy

In FluidFilm we trust! (That verse still needs to go as a sticker on mine). I'd soak the rust with FluidFilm Liquid A. It is however really liquid and will not stick very good to even surfaces. FluidFilm Gel BN has a greasy consistency and can be applied with a brush. It can also be diluted...

    BJ73 interior restore

Hi I religiously apply FluidFilm Gel BN on all nuts, bolts and contact surfaces in between bolt-on parts. Its highly penetrating. BN has a greasy, but non sticky consistency. It is not actually a grease, but it has some lubrication abilities, too (great on e.g. hinges or parking brake cables)...

Let him put down some welds first in order to make it in one piece. 😆 Seriously: Detecting so much of a crappy job on the vehicle is sad, but hey; You have been wondering about your welding skills, Jonathan. I'd guess you for sure in any case will do a better job than that Frenchman. And...

    KZJ78 INFO

Hi Welcome to the madness 😃 Very nice truck. Looks great! I like that all black appearance. As for every new owner: Get a service- and workshop manual (there is a resources thread on top of the 70s tech foru) and familiarize yourself with parts diagrams and parts resources for your rig (e.g...

    Builds 1988 BJ74 “Number 1”

I would agree, if I only would have one. Read carefully: 3b(x) was the object 😆, the dinosaurs , not the advanced stuff. But I generally agree: Wouldn't mind to keep my 3B engine. Hope it stays healthy and doesn't die on me for just a discontinued standard part one day. Cheers Ralf
