Bottle jack hook rod & extension storage

I have the 2 piece, long version rods that came with my 85 FJ60... I embarrassingly dis-remember where exactly they are supposed to be stored. Hoping one of you gentlemen can help jog my memory! Thanks!

Help with proper name for this accelerator rod?

Hello gentlemen...I'm hoping you can id this part by it's proper name as I may be needing to search for one for my 85 FJ 60. In the diagram it is 78104. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide!

Is this "carburetor cooling fan" essential for proper engine performance??

The shop restoring my '85 FJ60 says this cooling fan (Toyota part 16360-61015) is not needed. The motor has been de-smogged. I'm not sure if the fan was working before the engine was dismantled but it looks important to me. Maybe it's like the oil cooler (nice to be functioning but not...

    High in the montañas...

San Cristòbal al Norte, high in the central mountains of Costa Rica is where I found Alex's shop. My '85 FJ60 is behind the red doors, ready for engine bay paint. These guys restore top to bottom. Here are just a few of the current projects.

    Main bearing size explanation please

Mechanic says I need ".50" main bearing set for my 85 FJ 60 2f. I am assuming in photo the .50 is in millimeters but I am curious as to what the "U/S" in front of it signifies. A Toyota online parts guy says it means "undersized" but this leaves me confused because the engine is being bored...

    Part ID, please...

I will be searching for this part (used in good condition) as soon as I know what it is called. It is a cowl or cover for part of the steering? assembly under the hood of my '85 FJ60. 2nd photo is the piece that it covers Thank you!!

Wanted: body mounts 1985 FJ60 complete set

Hello gentlemen...What began as an engine rebuild has turned into an off chassis restoration. I am looking for a complete (24 piece) body mount kit for my '85. I have found kits for 84's and previous but no luck so far other than used (SOR). Maybe have to search individually?? There seems to be...

Gonna need a new set of pistons...but where do I look?

My '85 FJ60 2F engine needs a new set. The mechanic has given me two choices.... (1) remove/replace cylinder sleeves and revert to standard bore. Or (2) overbore existing sleeves to .040. Either way I'm going to need new pistons. I want to do some checking on my own but when I do the usual...

Asked mechanic to show me air/smog pump and there wasn't one.....

OK, so I'm pretty much an idiot with things under the hood. Now that I've come clean (I feel better already!) I have a couple of questions regarding my 85 FJ60 2F's many mysteries. 1) is the "air pump" and "smog pump" the same thing? 2) if, after beginning a re-build/restoration on engine I...

    Can you ID this part?

Mecanico says "malo" and replace (if possible?) But I don't know what you call this in English....it's corroded and leaking pressure. It runs along side drivers side of valve cover on fj60 2F...Thanks!!!

    Is this starter broken??

I bought this starter for my 85 FJ60 a few weeks ago from CruierCorps...but just opened it today. It wasn't packed very tight and the plastic housing covering the plug (sorry, don't know the proper name) has broken partially off. Will this problem affect the funciona it's of the starter? Or is...

    Vacuum hose controversy

I want to make sure I am purchasing the correct size/quality vacuum hose for my 85 FJ60. Toyota part number Vacuum Hose - Toyota (90999-92004) is available but 2 Toyota dealerships (online) say this does not fit my cruiser, 1 says it does. Or should I just buy some 3.5mm silicone hose on...

    SOR vinyl headliner creased/wrinkled

I did see a few comments on this from years ago with no real solutions other than "stretch" it as best you can during installation. I am hoping someone may have a better idea...my FJ60 headliner arrived folded and very wrinkled at the crease. Even stretching a small area with both my hand does...

Choosing new radiator FJ60 -4 core repairable or 3 core aluminum

I searched threads but no luck with this, if someone can point me to one that`s great. My gut tells me to just go with the 4 core brass soldered/repairable even though they seem to run about $400 (fjparts and CCOT). The 3 core aluminum are less than $300 (CruiserCorps) and some on ebay less than...

Water Pump for '85 FJ60 oil cooler??

OK, I'm not a mechanic, and barely engine knowledgeable. Now that I have that out of the way...Will be rebuilding an '85 FJ60, USA wagon 2F engine.....when I search water pumps some sites say something like "This water pump is for Cruisers which have a fan clutch AND an oil cooler". OK, I've...
