    Insurance in the USA

My other rig is a Unimog, when I went for insurance the local rep for State Farm said no. I asked to talk to owner of the agency and explained that all my insurance was through State Farm and had been for 35 years. The policy was written the next day.

    2LT engine

Yup its got a timing belt. While you are at it order and install a water pump (its hidden behind the timing belt cover) and a set of belts. A nice to have is the gasket for the timing belt cover.

    ac smells bad

The guys on Car Talk used to talk about a product called fridgi fresh BG Frigi-Fresh® | BG Products, Inc. - https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/climate-control/bg-frigi-fresh/. It was their go to before tearing things apart.

LHD HZJ73 aftermarket ac kit installation

Thanks for the report, the one I bought is still in the box due to other projects. I hope to get it in this summer. I did look at the instructions and components and they looked to be high quality.

    70 series fender flairs

The factory flares are still available for most models. There are a couple of big caveats. The fenders need to be drilled and figuring out where to drill would be a major project. My 95 was came drilled with the holes but had some cheap The flares attach with a lot of custom fasteners, the...

LJ70 Coil Spring Shocks, do I need to remove the coils?

Sorry for multiple posts but wanted to keep them straight. While reading through the service manual there is no section on changing shocks only. The only service procedures are removing and replacing both shocks and coils. Is there a reason the coils need to come out to change the shocks?. Maybe...

    HD vs LD LJ70?

I got a used Toyota Service Manual and it has both HD and LD sections. I am used to working on Fords and GMs that both have a section on decoding the VIN and chassis tags in the front of the manual but the Toyota version does not. So my 95 (at least on the US title) LJ70 has coil springs. So...

LJ 70 fender flares - Worth switching back to OEM ?

Well the flares are done after a few months of delays. I also have the factory mud flaps but they will wait until spring. As for parts sources I bought most from the UAE but needed to source the front flares from Japan as they were out of stock in UAE (more on the front flares later). The only...

    O Rings JIS?

I got my kit and can confirm that at least the radiator drain plug and the water sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter is JIS.

    O Rings JIS?

Thanks, I rolled the dice and ordered a Japanese JIC version. If I get 4 O rings out of the kit I have paid for it.

    O Rings JIS?

Has any one figured out what type of O Ring is used on LJ70s. I seem to have run into more than a few O rings that have dried out and when I try to replace them from a standard metric O ring kit I do not find match. I researched O rings a bit and noticed that there is JIS series of O rings...

    LJ70 2LT losing fuel prime

Interesting, that looks a lot like the radiator plug which had a leaky ORing that started leaking after I drained the radiator. Definitely one to check.

    LJ70 2LT losing fuel prime

Still just getting to know the systems. I already picked up a spare primer/filter housing but did not install it as the old one seemed to work. Someone had mentioned using the Bosch style primer and said it screwed right in but I sure did not see that option on my housing. Once I swap the old...

    LJ70 2LT losing fuel prime

My 94 LJ70 has been in the yard for 6 months while I work on it. One thing that is pretty consistent is if it sits for more than week or two it will not start due to lack of fuel. If I open the hood and push the primer bulb multiple times eventually I feel it firm up and eventually can hear...

    Rusty Roof Repair Questions

IMHO its rusting from the inside out so once you start grinding its going to be lot scarier and extensive. No doubt there is rust in places you have not seen. If you dont do your own work you will be paying a lot of money to someone who can. FYI plenty of guys say they can do rust repairs but...

Learning curve for repairing/maintaining own truck

I am not a fan of impact or power tools on unknown equipment. Way to easy to snap and strip stuff. If its something like lug nuts, have at it once you have taken them off and replaced them by hand but I find that I am far better off "feeling" the torque on a fastener by hand. I then resort to...
