High idle / Secondary butterfly question - Solved!

Greetings all - I'm having trouble fighting high idle (~900). Everything was running well - I had tuned via lean drop to an idle of 650 with a vacuum of 19-20. Ran this way for about a year. Seemingly overnight the idle went to 1200 and vacuum of ~15. Tore into everything and found a leaking...

    Stripped EGR stud question

The manifold-side where EGR pipe mounts is stripped at one mounting point. The PO had placed a nut on top of the manifold with a makeshift stud and a nut below to affix the EGR down pipe. I know the proper thing to do would be to pull the manifold and use a timesert, but the rats nest of vacuum...

    EGR vacuum modulator question

Greetings all. I'm tracking down a vacuum leak that has developed in my '79/40. I was pulling a good 19-20 with idle at 650; this abruptly changed to a vacuum of about 15-16 and idle of ~1100. Check timing and valves - all ok. Smoke test through the brake booster revealed a huge leak at the...

    Shock bushing question

My Dobinsons shocks came with these metal bushings - am I to use these inside the rubber bushings to fit on the shock stud? The rubber bushings fit on the stud without them, but I could squeeze the metal bushing in with some effort. My old rough country shocks had no metal inserts. Many thanks

    Spring pin fitment

Curious to hear some thoughts about this. I’m in the process of replacing my suspension components over to Dobinsons. The provided Dobinsons spring pins just aren’t fitting quite right - If I place one bolt, the other hole is misaligned, even when forcing it maximally by hand with the bolt...

    Body caulk

Greetings - I’m trying to remedy some fitment issues between the hood and cowl. I believe this is secondary to worn body mounts. The prior owner (sadly for me) applied caulk between the fenders/apron and between the fender/cowl. I’m stuck removing this crap. I know the area marked in green...

    Rear brake line t-fitting

'79 FJ40 I'm replacing the soft lines throughout. This braided line is coming off the top of the rear brake t-fitting. It was zip-tied to the prior soft line, but has a mounting bracket on it. Any idea what it's for or where it should be mounted to? Perhaps its not oem to begin with? Any...
