SOLD  Boise, ID: 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80 with rebuilt motor

Don’t let the odometer reading of 309,000 alarm you – with a rebuilt engine and quite possibly the cleanest frame and interior I’ve personally witnessed on an 80 series, this truck is well sorted. The engine was rebuilt with genuine Toyota parts roughly 30,000 miles ago and runs like new; the...

HOW TO: FZJ80 Throttle Cable Replacement

Thanks @NSBG for posting that top-notch write-up! In Reassembly Step 2 I struggled a bit getting the bracket-sandwich to stay in place while getting the bolts tightened down. Here's a little trick that worked well for me – hopefully it's helpful to someone in the future. Thread a zip tie...

    95-97 Dash Mat - HuddExpo

@LC4LIFE any update on a dash mat for a '93? I'm looking for one with a gray interior.

    help identifying this misc. bracket

Ah… something I haven't looked into. It runs like a champ at this point so I haven't ventured to eliminate anything as of yet. We have emissions testing here – so may not be an option for me regardless?

    help identifying this misc. bracket

It appears to have been a change made after '93?

    help identifying this misc. bracket

When I purchased my cruiser the PO gave me a box of misc. parts, including this bracket. Hoping someone can help me identify it so I can reinstall if necessary.

Wiring repair tips: EGR Burned 80

I just recently became aware of this issue and need to perform a temporary fix until I have time to address it properly. One thing I'm curious of is would there be any lesser benefit to just wrapping the EGR pipe instead of the wiring harness (the advantage being that the EGR is readily...

Wanted Need ECU for ‘93. 89661-60221

Hey Eric, saw this post from a while back – do you still happen to have a 89661-60221 available?

Rear auxiliary heat blows hot; dash vents only just warm

I finally had an opportunity to flush the system a few weeks back. Got out some crud, but not as much as I would have liked (as that would likely resulted in larger temperature gains). Antifreeze was relatively new and looked as such. I ended up getting readings ~10° warmer than I had, so...

    CV joint diagnosis

Just another follow-up for posterity - ended up pumping some additional grease into each side (20 additional pumps, 100 total) and after driving a bit, I definitely can say the noise is reduced. I do know the right recipe to get the noise to happen, but under daily driving, it's mostly absent.

Rear auxiliary heat blows hot; dash vents only just warm

Is anything related to this (and the heating system in general) detailed in the FSM? I've searched, but must be overlooking it.

Rear auxiliary heat blows hot; dash vents only just warm

Hi Mike. Sounds like a flush is indeed the way to go. One point of hesitation has been the extremely hard water we have here – I don't really see any way around this? Do you see that as a problem as long as I drain and refill adequately? I don't know, but can't imagine repair shops are...

Rear auxiliary heat blows hot; dash vents only just warm

Confirmed that this isn't the case. The next time I get the truck warmed up I'll double check the hose. (I don't drive too often around town, mostly bike).

PAIR Reed Valve - rattle on startup

Good to hear. Hopefully the video will help someone in the future. Just for my own understanding, any ideas what is actually occurring inside the unit?

PAIR Reed Valve - rattle on startup

I was shocked to find not a single posting about this noise – I was hoping to learn that it's a "land cruiser" sound and nothing to be worried about. I have read about people eliminating the system entirely – we do have emissions where I live so not likely a path I want to go down unless it...

    CV joint diagnosis

Wanted to follow up with you all. @Kernal has been assisting me with some troubleshooting and looks like the CV joint will need to be swapped and/or replaced. The PO's mechanic used Mobil 1 Synthetic wheel bearing grease (102481) instead of the proper grease. The level was slightly low so I...

Rear auxiliary heat blows hot; dash vents only just warm

The temperature has been dropping around here and it's my first winter with the Land Cruiser. I had always enjoyed the blazing heat that my 2003 Tacoma produced and from what I've read, the FZJ80s produce the same sort of temps when functioning correctly. Mine, however, does not. I adjusted...

Dash light replacement in an 80? OEM vs new LED

Seeking this bulb as well. Any help would be appreciated. Took the dash apart to sort out a heating issue - never knew a few of these bulbs existed as the PO had removed the socket and folded it back into the dash cavity. Now that I have it all apart, I figure I ought to replace them.

    CV joint diagnosis

Well, I certainly can't say cost is no objective, however as a daily driver reliability is of higher importance than saving a buck on the front end. Additionally, there is some value in having it done and moving on with my life, instead of knowing it's always likely to fail at an inopportune...
