I am puttng in a new crank shaft seal in the timing cover plate on my '77 2f- is the seal supposed to sit flush with the timing gear cover or does it stick out? I dont want to damage the seal by forcing it in but I dont want it to leak again because I wasnt paying attention when I took the old...

Ok I managed to get the timing gear cover plate off - now I need to replace the gasket and crank shaft seal. Do I put the gasket on the motor or on the cover plate? Do I use blue RVT on both sides of the gasket? Also are there torque specs for the bolts?
