    I had no problem finding the seals about 3 or so years ago during my rebuild. Maybe things have changed since then.

    Heck, the diff is designed to come out as a unit with simple tools - that's the beauty of it. When I bought this 40, much maintenance had been 'deferred' and the rear end was shot. I luckily live about 3 miles away from Spector and they had a rebuilt one sitting on the floor behind the counter...

    Not understanding why modifying with Toyota parts is much better than using other proven non-stock parts though. I use a modified GM HEI distributor that does the job nicely with no fuss and good parts availability. To me, good non-stock is good non-stock.

    Just guessing but I think that's a vacuum gauge indicating 0-30 in. of Hg.

    I'm pretty sure that seam sealer also comes in white. I think that's what I used, in white.

    You could remove the center area of the gasket by razor knifing it around the perimeter. Long term exposure to fuel and heat could degrade it to the point that it removes itself. I might have been tempted to radius the edges of the manifold entry but that's just me.
