    Installed RCI rock sliders

Got these RCI Offroad sliders on sale during Black Friday. Installation was straightforward. The most difficult part was reaching up through the front boxed portion of the frame rail to get the front-most washer and nut threaded onto the bolt. Don't forget to place the aluminum spacers between...

Latest info about Element fire extinguishers

The Element fire extinguishers (E50, E100) are pretty popular on here, and I even have 2 of them. However, I've started noticing in feeds elsewhere that they have been getting a bad rap lately for not really being effective at very many real world situations. It's making me second-guess whether...

2nd gen FAQ for modifications, repairs, and general info

The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the 2nd generation Tacoma tech section continues to be a work in progress. The goal is to have links in the below to other threads and tech articles. By having these linked, instead of pasting the text, the threads will remain live. The live threads can...

    2nd gen picture thread

I'll start. Recently bought our Tacoma, so don't have too many photos yet. Here's right after we bought it: Our trail camera shooting a photo after doing some work at our property:

What have you done to your 2nd gen Tacoma this week?

Didn't see an existing thread, so starting one. Placed storage bags under the foldable xtracab seats. Perfect size to fit under there. Starting to fill them with the typical things I put on every vehicle I own. I will also strap these to the mounting points of the front seats so that in case of...

    Builds  Added to the stable - 2012 TRD Offroad, 6-speed 4.0L V6 - "Nacho"

I know there's a lot less activity on this Tacoma forum compared to others, but I just enjoy ih8mud so much and dislike the drama on other sites. Bought this red 2012 TRD Offroad, 4.0L V6, 6-speed. It just popped up after about 18 - 24 months of just casually keeping track of way-too-high...

Wide tires or pizza cutter tires?

This question seems to come up in every 200 thread, with people giving valid points on each side, and no clear winning answer in the end. If you feel so inclined, vote in the poll before watching the video. Definitely check this out. Fantastic video and data. Broke several preconceived notions...

Lower ball joint boot leaking grease

Seeing some grease coming from the driver side lower ball joint boot. I recognize that boots in general don't last forever, but thought this would last longer than 88,000 miles. I don't see many threads even mentioning the lower ball joint, making me think this normally has a longer life. Or am...

KDSS bolt style and corrosion condition comparison

We're all aware that the KDSS bolts and housing are prone to corroding (located on left-hand side, below 2nd-row door, attached on inner frame rail). The bolt style pre-2018 model year was an Allen-head bolt, which have been observed to strip easily or break the narrow Allen bit when corroded...

    Builds  FerrisBueller's 2018 LC Build - "Moby"

I've been through several Toyotas (4Runners and Sequoia), and always wanted a Land Cruiser. My wife grew up in a family with an old LC, too. So finally ending up with our own LC was just going to happen one way or another. I purchased my used 2018 LC during the big price dip when no one was...

Good experience with media blasting in Austin

I had a great experience getting my offroad bumper media blasted by a local company here in Austin, so I thought I'd share here in case anyone is searching for a good media blaster. Commercial Services on Avenue N was great (also called "Austin Powder Coaters" on their website). Good price and...

Bug:  Replying to threads & PM fails; also logging in from different browser fails with "security error".

Google Chrome is my normal browser on my Windows 10 laptop, and it's where I was experiencing these issues. I am trying to reply to a PM, and the website fails each time with the error message: "Oops! We ran into some problems. Please try again later. More error details may be in the browser...

[Figured out] Where did this broken bolt come from?

This sheared bolt fell on me while I was under the LC. It fell from somewhere directly in front of the drivers front tie rod but, which I was tightening and was bumping around a bit right there. It's a T25 torx, 1.25mm thread.

Slee slider steps install notes - 2018 LC

I installed my Slee slider steps on my 2018 LC two weeks ago, and it was a good install experience. Let me answer a few questions up front that I had going into the install, and that you likely have right now if you're considering installing them yourself: 1. How many holes do I need to drill...

    SOLD  Houston: 2017 LC200, Silver + Terra

Noticed this on CarGurus. Silver + terra seems like a rare find, so figured this would be a good one to post here. Price seems slightly high for year+miles, but probably worth it for someone looking for this color combo. Unfortunately not very many pictures on website. Sterling Mcall Toyota in...

SOLD  Carvana (Nationwide) 2018 LC200 Black + Terra

Looks great, and seems like a good deal. Less than 5k miles, $67k : Carvana 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Black, with blacked out EVERYTHING. Terra interior. Cruisers don't stay on Carvana for long.

    Finally bought a LC200 (2018 + extras)

Mentioned elsewhere that I was planning to buy a 2016+ LC next year, but was tempted to move that up with the dropping prices right now. Picked up a 2018 this week, super happy with it 😎 I had been making a mental checklist of the first things I would do whenever I found the right LC. First up...
