Assisted a family member in aligning the 80. It was a mess on the road after installing an adjustable front panhard but she is squared up now. With a bit of extra toe in, it's driving quite nicely.
You should be able to use the Eaton switches and tie into the factory dash lights also, the pins are there and ready for you in the passenger side kick panel, though you may need to splice into the Eaton harness. Pulling from pin 8 for 12v makes sense since you’re already de-pinning the...
I just finished installing front and rear Eatons with 4.56 gears from cruiser outfitters - I got a master install kit and third member seals from them as well. I found the price was in the ballpark, and allowed me to get everything in one place. The bonus was - they had everything on the shelf...
Right - once upon a time I had a Disco II and it would break my heart every time I had to repair it, which was often.
Although I can't claim that my 80 has zero leaks at the moment - working through those now. 🙃
Nicely done @Box Rocket, I considered something like that, but I wanted...
tach welded into place and then test fitted. I positioned the mount so I still have access to the bolster adjustment knob:
I was happy with it, so I boogered it up with some welds, cleaned it up and hit it with some VHT chassis paint:
And the results. To me it looks almost factory:
Cheers
Hey folks - I've gotten a lot from this forum and figured it might be time to give back a bit.
You have to really want this to go through the effort for the retrofit. Every time I would hop in the 80, I would miss the seat-mounted armrest that the 100 has - they are the best. I was...
I just put a set of these on my 80 along with Slee front sway bar drop brackets. I would guess a 15 min install all together. The 80 is currently under the knife for other winter maintenance, but looking forward to testing these out when the weather is nicer. Thanks @LandCruiserPhil for the...
Having a period-correct radio is nice, but I agree that carplay wins over that. IMO Sony makes the most 'factory-looking' radios without having wildly stylized buttons. I have a Sony avx in my 100 and am now looking for a similar model for the 80.
The attention to detail in this thread makes me...
You can check fuel pressure at the driver side fuel rail on the engine, your local auto parts store should have a tool with enough adapters you can rent to do this.
You can also climb under the car and have someone turn the ignition to on to see if you hear the fuel pump run.
I just replaced...
I agree with @Manhattan, Toyota powertrains and chassis are well vetted.
I too am tempted with the 250. The old school bone in me says the ttv6 is more proven(?). Not sure if that’s valid. I guess I’ll be curious to see what the new 4Runner is all about when announced.
Nothing but tarmac lately.
I was just up in ouray picking up an 80, but I felt it was too low to get into to some real fun without risking the rockers. Looks like I may have crossed paths with some of y’all.
